Nice work! I've considered doing that too. Were you tempted to cut it down to a 2 tube rack instead of 3? It looks like the middle tube would be almost the right height for the bed sides.

I didn't think about making it two tubes but it could be cut down. My brackets that bolt to the Pioneer are about 2 1/2" taller the bed sides they will stay in all the time. Removal is the same as Ford designed pull the top pins flip up and release the catches and slide off. Takes less than 1 minute. Tail gate closes as it should with the brackets installed. I will only use once each year on our annual trip so I can haul a spare and extra gas. On our weekly rides I don't haul a spare or extra gas.

I did the same thing, but I left mine as deep as the stock truck bed tailgate (2 feet maybe?). It then extends beyond the Honda tailgate when down, so I added a partial bottom to it that matches up flush with the Honda tailgate when flipped. That gave the storage area another 10" in bed depth or so. Mine can be reversed back in the bed when the rear seats are down. So to convert, I open the tailgate, flip the truck bed extender, then pull up the rear seats. Works awesome.

Yeah I really need to. You're right. Someone asked for pics of the underseat 8" fan too and the duct work I have.
It's stored in my toyhauler right now though. So it's kinda tough. I'll try and remember to get it.

Looks good and thinking of doing the same thing. Did you make the hardware below that the extender attaches to or did it come with the bed extender?
