Is it really necessary to tie down the rear of at Honda 1000-5 while trailering?
I double strap the front end using heavy duty straps with tires resting against the front of the trailer. The vehicle does not move and I use tie points that let the suspension function as it should during travel.

Well. You should always have 4 points.
But you are free to do it as you wish.

When we had atv's they would fit sideways between the rails almoat perfect. We didn't tie any of them down.

Thanks for the input but I don’t want to be either guy. The first guy strapped the hell out of his tractor but didn’t secure the trailer to the truck. To me that’s more dangerous.
The second guy did not chain his tractor securely, if at all. He also had no front rail to stop the tires from going over the edge of the trailer.
My trailer rail is approximately 18” tall. I’ll be worried about more than my SxS if it jumps said rail while double strapped.
I’ll probably put straps on the rear of my SxS anyway, just wanted to know if it was really necessary. Thanks again for the input CID

There is a image of a larger UTV "influencer" group in a similar picture. Rigs flow everywhere.
And there is another UTV group wrecked but UTV's are still secured to the trailer upside down.

That is a perfectly detailed end result of proper tie down!

In addition to the ratchet straps over the front wheels, I only use one e-track ratchet strap in the back, hooked to the tow loop at the rear. I only use the cable locks through the wheels and chassis if I'm overnighting on the road.

Do you use a railroad tie for the gas cans?

I mean why not? Only takes a few extra minutes

I have a 1000-5 and have had pretty great results trailering it with sunshine and happy thoughts. I also use 3500lbs straps and use 4 points of contact but that is just in case the first options fail. I plan to install wheel straps on my trailer this summer cause that is just the way to go (speed and convenience). In the end, safety first, not only for your sake.

I do a heavy ratchet strap over the bar where your elbows would be on both sides. I’ve found that if you keep the suspension from swaying it almost makes it one with the trailer. Much easier to travel at speeds. I’ve hauled a Kawasaki Mule all over the state for work using this method having to haul ass (no pun intended) and it’s solid as a rock. If the suspension sways it makes the trailer sway at speed. Not fun.
