I'm constantly checking the Honda site for updates on the 1000 hoping they've eked a morsel of information out.

If they were to generate click revenue from that page I'm sure I've already paid for everyone's 1000 by now.

I know I'd read about it here first but COME ON HONDA! My 700 "should" be sold this weekend, that money's gonna be burnin' a hole in my wallet.

GIVE ME SOMETHING TO SPEND IT ON!!!!

@ohanacreek I feel for you and understand your aingst. I do believe it is an effort in futility until the end of July. Honda just gave us a peek under the skirt and I am certain the rest is being held to see what Polaris actually unveils for 2016 at the dealer meeting the weekend of July 25 & 26th. Pure speculation but I suspect they want to be able to say with certainty the P1000 does have class leading HP & torque for 2016 which can be adjusted some with ECU programming +/- 6HP or so. I'm thinking the P1000 is set to roll out with 75HP which would be 7 HP more than the Ranger XP900's 68 HP that gives them some wiggle room if the competitor bumps their HP #'s up slightly. I say don't play with them give us 80 HP off the get go and it would even be over the 75HP of the RZR 900's. But we will have to deal with the suspense and speculation until the Honda details curtain is peeled back Tuesday July 28th or so.

The Can-Am Commander 1000 has 85hp, around 60" wide, dump bed... So wouldn't "class leading" have to be more than 85hp?

I believe the specific claim was class leading displacement...but I could be wrong.

I would not consider the commanders small bed to put it solidly in the utility class that the Pioneer, mule, and ranger sit in. It would best be described as a crossover.

It's splitting hairs but you can't use it for the same things.

Here's hoping the Pioneer has 86hp so the hairs are safe.

Me too. I held my money waiting for the announcement of the 2016's. I am going to buy this Honda site unseen. As soon as I get pricing I will decided exactly which model, put my grand down in late July or early August and wait for my new P1000 in late September or October. I check everyday to see if there is any new news. Heck, I still don't know how wide the darned thing is yet, I don't care if the HP is over 70 or what the top end is. I don't care what Polaris is doing. I'm buying a P1000-3 and can't wait to spend my hard earned cash.

The Commander's bed and the Ranger 900's bed are both around 13.1 cubic feet in volume... the lower area that can be used as separate storage is a useful feature for many. Other than the seating arrangement (bench vs. divided bucket)- the machines are pretty similar in size, weight, and utility capability, with the Commander edging towards performance and ride while the Ranger towards utility.

It will be very interesting to see how the Pioneer 1000 compares to all of the competition...

Volume may be close, I was counting usable floor area, the Pioneer is smaller than the ranger and the floor area of the top compartment of the commander is smaller than that, more in line with a sport machine.

You'd have a harder time placing a cooler and other things in it.
