Is the back of the honda cargo tray raised some to keep items from sliding out? I can't find one to look at with my local dealer, so having to look at pictures online. The pictures online make it look like all sides and front are raised edges but the back not so much. Looks like stuff like coolers etc will slide out. Thanks for any help.

The back has a very low side to it but there are slots in the tray so you can add dividers in the tray (2×4 or 2x6).

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Trying to decide between the cargo tray and Stongmade basket.

I like the cargo tray because it is plastic and won’t rust but can I strap a cooler and random things in it?

Yes, sure you can. See the picture that @Chooglin posted above you? But, I would think you’d have problems with the plastic, cracking or warping before you’d have problems with anything Strongmade builds.

Thanks. I had their front bumper on my Rubicon and it’s great quality. Thanks!

I’m just looking for the best solution to carry a cooler, chainsaw, gas, toolbox and recovery gear

That may be, but if you’ve experienced Strongmade’s products, a plastic beds not going to be better, IMO.

Sure, if you need to be taking off your bed regularly, that may be the ticket, but that’s not Jason’s need.

Don't really have any dogs in the fight and it doesn't matter to me what tray anybody buys
Don't know what Jason needs or uses it for just stating my opinion

There’s no fight that I’m aware of. And your opinion is just as valuable as anyone else’s. That’s what Jason’s looking for. :)

Nice, yours and mine are remarkably similar though I made mine of metal.
I’ve been trying to find a picture of yours. It probably is one of my inspirations that I saw back when I first joined and was waiting for my p500 to come in. Do you have a pic of your project?

Yeah, I was looking for that for you last night when I made that post. I didn’t really find anything good of it but I’ll be back on that ride this weekend and I’ll get you a good pic of it. For now, this is all I’ve got for you....

IMO there are much better option out there instead of the Honda tray. @jason500 it will do everything you are asking , if it's setup right. I eventually sold the tray because everything that I put in it , got covered in mud and dust , so I built my own enclosed box.

This thread has many great options

P500 - Post your rear rack/boxes Pics.

And a thank you to you Chooglin as I found your box design a big inspiration for my build as well.

Thanks for finding that. I do remember seeing it and the red wasp lettering on the back of your tray. A good design is a good design.
