Great read. Learned alot on how to properly do the first maintenance. So you drain the DCT and the pan with 2 separate drains. Replace filters . But only have to fill one fill hole? The oil will seperate into the pan and DCT tank on their own? Why did Honda make a 2 part oil change like that. Kinda weird the setup but either way just making sure I do it properly for the first go then I'll know for the rest of the time. Again great read and thanks a ton!

Its more like Oil Tank, and Oil Pan.
Just dont drain the 3rd, most front drain bolt, that is the sub-transmission. The best way to notice is that it will be a larger size drain bolt. Oil tank, and oil pan have the same size drain bolt.

I still hate this job.... Ease of maintenance shouldn't be an afterthough. I won't be getting a new machine any time soon, but I will be looking hard at the yamaha's with their crazy new-fangled SPIN ON OIL FILTERS!!!!!!!

On the Talon (same engine configuration as the P-1000), the drain bolts are 17 mm and 12 mm. I've never drained the sub trans so I don't know its size.

This is incorrect for the P-1000, sorry for the confusion. 😊

On the Pioneer the 12mm are both engine & dct, the 17mm is subtransmission in front.

Is the engine oil and the DCT oil the same?
Yes but there is 2 drain bolts, the back 2 are engine and DCT, read the guide at beginning and refer to pictures to avoid draining sub transmission by mistake.

My apologies, I don't want to confuse anyone. I'll point that out in my post.

I am thoroughly disappointed. Here is an oil change thread that didn't turn into an argument about what type of oil to use and that your political views are wrong. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just did my first oil change today. Since the machine is used with 1200 miles I went ahead and changed engine oil, engine oil filter, dct filter, and changed sub trans oil. This thread was a big help. I removed skid plate first and made no mess at all. Thanks

Still surfing and learning from this great resource/website.
Will be doing all my service stuff come spring, because I do not have one of them fancy things called a heated garage. :)
.
Uhm... I have never heard of a 1/8" drive ratchet. haha
I know, just a typo, but still found it funny.
"10mm Socket on 1/8" drive ratchet for filter covers"
.
Have a good day

Special thanks to @JACKAL for helping put this together and providing the detailed images.

Also wish to thank @MAINEYAK for the video guide below.
After reviewing the Posts both the Engine/DCT & Sub-Transmission it appears that I can use Mobil 1 4T Racing 10W-40 for both or am I missing simething??

You are correct. They take the same oil. What oil you use is another battle all in itself. LOL

Anyone who says they can do an engine & DTC oil & filter change and NOT get oil all on the backside of the OEM skid plate is either a saint or a liar.

My initial service was just a couple dozen miles over and I have the TA skid plate set that needs to be installed, but I was just going to do a quick change and save the TA swap for later. Nope. Pulled the OEM crap off, will likely install the TA stuff soon.

Nope. Never really wanted to sell it. Hoping my buddy eventually gets another one, so it's staying put for now. Thier house (next door) is close to being done, so I think he'll get one as soon as he sees his finances firm up.

Actually took my FS ad down. 😉
