Howdy,
New to the forum, and really thinking about picking up a P500 in the near future. We’ve outgrown our old 93 Fourtrax 300 (pic attached) and I think P500 will fit the bill. Will be used mainly used for hunting and work on the property. Just wanted to see everyone’s different setups for carrying gear, bows and guns. Thanks!

Not to high Jack the thread, but is there a similar post of custom 1000 beds? Been toying with building a steel bed for my 1000 and looking for ideas.

Response to milder thread, but noticed mention of dusty dawg rack. I got one and here is the setup for hunting. I got it for duck hunting and it’s ideal for that. I believe @bowhunterbill has one from his posts and his bow case fits perfect on top rack. Here is mine when I got it. I added 1.5 rear wheel spacers due to height and center of balance when loaded down. I highly recommend the rack.

Nice set up. Could haul a lot of gear with that.

Like several others on this forum I went with the Strong Made rack and a side mount truck tool box. This has worked well for me and gives plenty of dry storage. The rack easily holds 6 bags of feed (I have stacked 12 before) and I have carried out three deer with it so far. Good luck on your purchase.

I posted pictures of the Dusty Dawgs rack on the rack thread. My double compound case fits like a hand/glove on the top rack. I’m very pleased with it.

I’m realizing there’s few 50” ATV trails I’ll be using here in Montana, so going to get 1.5” spacers for a wider track.

Not directly hunting- but on a search and rescue training day in July- I had room to strap in a cooler with ice and bottled water for the team.

It’s related to hunting since we were familiarizing the team with the Black Butte area of the Gravelies range in SW Montana- where there were 4 griz maulings last archery elk season. We’re ready to go in at night to pull a hunter out.

I carry a 45 with buffalo bore 265 grain +P hardcast loads.... and a 12 gauge slug gun.

I checked out that thread, a lot of cool rigs. Just didn’t see to many guys toting around bows for hunting. I’m thinking the dusty dog rack would be perfect. Bow case on the upper rack gear in the lower and maybe a deer if I’m lucky.

My padded double compound bow case with 45 degree corners fits perfectly on top. Bungie cords hold it on. Sorry trad shooters- I can’t help you with a good way to transport one.

Bill, love that picture of Black Butte. After all the beef those bears got to eat last year I thought we'd see a lot of them up there this year. Didn't even see a track or anything on our kills in the bottom of Elk River during rifle season. My bow case ties right on the back of my box.

I carry my 10mm during bow season. Don't trust only the bear spray. Use a 35 Whelen and 45-70 during rifle and keep a 12 gauge in camp.

You really do need a windshield and roof on that P500 at a minimum for up there. Come off of Lobo Mesa after dark sometimes and it does get cold. Also need some light bars because the stock lights really suck on those tight curves.

Stock light stink even with led bulb upgrade. I have a long led light bar mounted up above the cab. I got an Amazon Chinese-made bar and then sealed it with silicon caulking to better waterproof. It turns night into day. I bought an illuminated rocker switch at the Honda dealer, the parts guy said they use them without relays. Worked great.

I agree with the above. The LED bulbs look nice and white but in the end provide very little extra lighting. I also have installed a $30 light bar off Amazon and it works great. I’ve used these “cheap” light bars for years off Amazon on my 4 wheelers and other outdoor equipment and have never had one fail. based on my experience with the “cheap” light bars I wouldon’t pay more than $50 for one.

I built this rack and winch for the back of my P5. The tube the winch slides out from the storage position. The rack is then slid out of the receiver and put back in in the horizontal position. The winch tube is then slid back in the rack. Used it for the first time on Nov 21 and it was flawless. Worked great for gutting and hauling.
