I picked up a 6" light bar at Cabelas yesterday and I thought I'd walk through the install for anyone that isn't familiar with how it's done.

First thing was to mark where the switch will go on my switch plate.

Next I decided where to mount the light. It just so happened that the mounting holes for my winch lined up perfectly withe the holes on the light so I decided that was as good a place as any!

Now for the wiring. The light simply plugs in to the harness, only fits one way so you can't mess it up

The power supply is just as easy. Red wire to the positive terminal and black wire to negative.

This picture sucks but it is just showing the wires to the switch. It doesn't matter which wire goes on which terminal so once again you can't mess it up

Looks good, that appears to be a bright little bugger.

Tonight I'll see just how bright it really is. But we all know how installing lights goes, once you get one on there you gotta have another...and another! I'm already thinking I want some cubes up high and perimeter lighting for those times when work goes on after dark (usually that's discovering a hole in the fence at sundown!) plus maybe a bigger light bar in addition to this one.

Thanks for showing this. I've been considering a flood light and you've shown me a good place for it.

BTW, those tires still look great!

Thanks @joeymt33, in an hour or so it should be dark enough to test it out and see how much it helps. I'm curious as to how much the 6" bar will even help, I'll attempt to get pictures

I agree. Eventually I'll get all uniform switches when I decide what all I'll have on there. I'm thinking front winch, rear winch, perimeter lights and front lights. Maybe mount a spare switch just in case!

looks awesome!! @Tflynn and great write up, I'm probably adding an LED or 2 over the winter and I don't have a lot of electrical experience so this will (and already has) come in handy!

Glad to be of some help! And just a word to the wise, I'm already considering upgrading that 6" to a 12" or more. I knew this would happen!
