Is there a good site where channels/freqs are listed for different local repeaters? Also, is there any harm in tuning in to listen? I really just want to see what it will pick up from my house. I found some that are relatively close on RepeaterBook.com but have no clue what I'm doing...

I don't think the HOA would approve that... I know there is one near my parents house which is about 9.3 miles as the crow flies from me. I've never used one of these fancy pants radios so I've got no idea what I'm doing. I've only ever used a CB and a dinky little Cobra walkie.

Question, out of the FRS channels typically what would be the top 3 or 4 channels used at RRB or is it just all over the board , I realize different groups will use different channels, is there some kind of order to groups and channels??? THANK YOU Sir.

Normally we just select the channel when the groups leave the staging area. There is no set frequency setup.
Some of the members that work the event will use a different channel for event communication.

They will most likely be the Baofeng radios, I am doing everything possible to be $50 or less each.
You can trust @Tramguage1 , he helped me set up the TH 8600 and Baofeng radios. Having two Baofengs around the house is also good, a scanner and FM radio for working in the yard. Great price also.

That Baofeng dual band radio is doing double duty now. Local Fire Dept and FM Classic Rock to keep me company in the garage, with a few HAM conversations with an operator in England. Another good hobby learned with programming help on this forum. Thanks guys.

I would like some ideas on where to mount the tyt 8600 radio. Do I put it under the dash or up in the top near my CB, or build a bracket and mount it somewhere else. Your input is very welcome.

I just mounted mine to the top with fender washers and it seems to do fine, easy to see and get to,,,,
