My favorite mod has been Can-Am Commander shocks. They gained me about 2.5"
Shock Spacers work fairly well and they are cheap/free.
The Highlifter adjustable kit has been known to cause serious failure at the attachment point.
Strongmade makes a kit that I believe is 2". That should be a good one.
The best-of-the-best would be the portal gears but they cost $$$ ($3000)

strong made is a good one.

Don't get the High Lifter unless they have improved their design to support the upper shock mount.

CP: This group looked for anything rough and had a great time. It wasn't all about who was the best or correct line just some good ol boys with a beer and a 4wd.

I'm still undecided on lift kit, going to get shocks first, but after a $ 28,000 exterior home renovation + paint, may have to wait a little!

So I didn't do any research and literally just finished installing the highlifter adjustable lift. What do I need to look for as far as anything failing?? I liked that it is adjustable. No I'm worried I may have gone the wrong route.

Geez Smitty, To qualify as a GOOD Redneck, your home has to be falling apart while your 4x4 is still getting new mods.

I put on a 2 inch strong made lift. Super easy and it rides better. The stock shock angle helped it I believe. I have had this machine for 3 years now,So I am familiar to it's every quirk. I wished I would have done the lift first my 28s don't rub and you feel the height difference and don't crack the hitch off things....Easy to put on too

No because the axles are really not at too great of and angle with the Super atv lift. Now The steering is more sensitive to me and I want power steering

Hey @FiveOh, welcome to the club.

The failure that Joey was referring to is the top shock mount. With the increased leverage on the mount the welds have failed in some cases. Do I have that right @joeymt33?

If your driving style is not aggressive you will probably be ok. Otherwise I suggest looking into adding a gusset of some type to the shock mount.

Stick around here and we'll do our best to point you in the right direction!

That's what I experienced. It also reduced shock travel which I didn't like. It did make the springs a little stiffer which I needed but I wouldn't buy it again.

CanAm Commander shocks are the ONLY way to go. The stock 700 shocks are junk. You can't even give them away!!! No more bottoming the shocks out with commanders. For ride quality, ground clearance and best overall mod I have performed is the shock swap. There isn't any comparison between stock n commander's.

Are the front Commander shocks a direct replacement fit? I've got a line on a set of fronts but I don't know if there's anything else I'd have to do to them other than remove and replace.

Yes, fronts direct fit, no changes needed. Only the rear require different sleeves and bushings.

Thanks. Are my OEM springs sufficient or should I try to find some Commander springs as well?

Use the commander springs/shocks and hardware as an assembly. the honda springs are not compatible with the commander shocks. What I meant when I said it was a direct bolt on is that the assembly complete off a commander fits perfectly on the honda front and offers the lift.
