Mount low just above hood?

Just looking for input. I see more people mounting low and wasnt sure why...

Thanks!!

Right above the hood, I found these brackets on Amazon, I would like to done it right underneath the roof, but the way the rollbar is shaped with the reinforcement brackets I couldn't find any brackets to fit it F2359b44b0b96667d99fef4541743f5e

Just personal preference.

I've had 50+ inch light bars on truck up at the roof line and on the front of a Rhino roof.

Now this is just MY opinion/preference.....

On the trucks, they had dark dashboards, the Rhino, too.

The light spillage down inside and onto the dash and out onto the hood, so even an envelope was a great distraction.... It was very bright. It caused pupils to constrict and ruin my night vision.

Consequently, I have my 50 inch light bar on to of my 2020 1000-5 LE brushguard.

ALL of the light is forced out forward and nothing is reflected onto the hood or back into the cab or onto the glass windshield.

For ME this is best. You'll have to experiment and see what's best for you.

I'm color blind. I am missing cone cells for color vision, but have an abundance of rod cells for night/dim light vision. I can see things out in a field at night others can't. But, not so great with colors.

See what others say who have experienced both.

Good luck, you have a sun gun blazing light.

In the Honda pioneer 1000 riders facebook group. Look up Matt Mars he is the original designer of those brackets that mount to the lower corners. I think they are $25 shipped and give credit to the original maker. In my opinion , our roofs are always hitting trees etc. Down low is better.

Like mentioned already, most people go low for the risk of hitting the light bar with somt'n out on the trails. I did a small combo of slim bars tucked in the number area and a set of pods, plenty of light for me. All depends on your preference and look you are going for. But I believe you'll be happy with mounting it down low.

Down low is good I had an Amazon special 40” mounted where @TxDoc has his 50” but for the way I ride it was constantly in the way of seeing what was in front or me.

The 700 I had was “well lit” but I would have moved everything if I’d kept it

I went with a equally bright 20” single row RC light and have it 1/16” off the upper rail of the bumper. I can see better and it doesn’t hit anything.

For side lighting there are two RC X5 pods mounted on the rear seatbelt mounts. It’s plenty of light if your not running 50mph which we rarely do.

I have the 50 or 52 inch light bar mounted here also. I luv the output, and no glare off the hood. The only thing I dont like is it kinda restricts your vision for technical stuff. Especially if your less than 6 foot tall. When my Amazon special dies, I will get a quality smaller light bar for my bumper area like @ohanacreek has.

This is off the subject but what did you paint your bumper with?

I agree the top of the bumper for light reflection off the hood/windshield issues plus I would catch it on stuff up high.

I did mine in front of the Honda symbol. I went with a 22” harbor freight light and it is very bright, even compared to the led headlights of the deluxe model, which are already pretty bright.

the only reason I would put a light on the roof is for high speed night riding. The higher the light, the more bumps you can see/decipher.

I have both, an 18” on the bumper that I tied in with the headlights I converted to led. It’s great, but sucks with my plow on front.

So this fall I added a 52” curved with pbr mounts just at the top of the hood. The big light bar is on my aux battery. I also have 4, 4 inch cubes on the sides.

Don’t mount it up high above the windshield. The first low hanging branch you go under will rip it off.
