This subject has been posted numerous times but damned if I can find a photo of a P5 loaded in pickup with the tailgate closed. I measure wheel to wheel at 8'3" on my buggy with 27" tires. Also concerned about taking out the rear window with the bumper. Backing in is an option but again I'm not sure of the clearance.
Thanks in advance for your assistance and Yes I know I can buy a trailer, just don't want to.

They fit stock tailgate closed no problem. Also all 8ft beds aren't the same. Adding 4" to the front with a different bumper and a couple of inches to back with bigger tires changes things.

Yes and that my concern. Neighbors have a Ford with an 8' bed, maybe I'll sneak over and see if it will load.

A lot safer to load it backwards. Not close to the window. Maybe if I took most of the air out of the tires I could close the tailgate.

Well, Honda Literature says it's 102" long, before any accessories, or larger tires, and my tape measure says 8' is 96." I've never been able to close the tailgate on my '06 Ford. I've wondered about backing in and getting a fifth wheel tailgate, I bet the bumper fits in the cutout.

I was just looking at some fifth wheel tailgates tonight. Not sure how that would effect loading and un

Thanks for the photo. It looks like I'm going to have to live with the tailgate down or at least open.

I have a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 with 8' tailgate and it won't close with my P500 parked in the bed. I took tailgate off and redesigned a Stromberg-Carlson 5th wheel tailgate so I could load my P500 in the rear and tow my trailer at the same time. Works great for me.
