Low cost mirrors

Figured I would start my own thread instead of highjacking existing threads. Here are my $5 mirrors mounted. They can be had at autozone. They swivel 360* and seem to work well. I made some mounts out of some 16g sheet metal and painted them black. I then ran 2 screws through the sheet metal into the base of the mirror and bolted them to the existing bolts for the roll cage.

First screw-up. I purchased Honda's side mirrors not realizing the "hard doors" they refer to, are the full size hard doors. No help from the Honda Parts Dept. in pointing this mistake out to me when I ordered them. Now I need to figure out how to install these on the side rail like sksshooter did with the $5 ones. Has anyone else made this same mistake or done it intentionally and found a way to mount them?

Did you get your fabric doors? Not sure how they mount. I have been waiting for mine to come......so I can plan for side-view mirrors.

No fabric, just the stock half doors and netting. I sat down with the mirrors and figured out how to fabricate something. 3x5 inch plate will mount to the frame bolts running through the roll bar, then I'll mount the mirrors to same. I'll post pics when done.
Put the folding windshield, A Arm guards & floor mat in tonight. Rear bumper tomorrow.

Bummer on the mirrors, Zonie. Sounds like you have it figured out though. If you get a chance after you install the bumper, please post some pics in a new thread, I'm sreiously interested in getting one.

After some use I will say the mirrors are OK they sit in far enough not to hit everything but they also sit in far enough to limit there visibility. They do work well for backing out of the shed which is a tight fit along with backing off trailer. Overall they are usable but not perfect.

I like the looks of the factory mirrors and the way you installed them without the hard doors. They don't hang way out. COOL!

All the mirrors I saw that were that small at autozone and advance were convex mirrors. I want regular flat ones. I did make a rear view mirror for the inside. I ran across a panoramic mirror at advance made to clip over a regular automotive mirror. It had metal clips on the top of it so I just welded a couple hose clamps to them and clamped it to the roll bar. I think with a little figuring a person could probably use screws instead of welding them to the clamps.

Does anyone know the part number for the AutoZone mirrors that sksshooter used? I am trying to find them on AutoZone's website but not having much luck.

hidden I ended up removing the one I had on. it gave a little visibility but after a short time it lost the ability to stay put. it was basically a ram mount type of mount and the ball loosened up. it wasn't perfect either when it was working it was better than nothing tho. I did however mount a rearview mirror that a buddy had out of his parts Suzuki samurai. it works really well. I drilled a hold in a hose clamp and screwed it into the back of the mirror mount. then lined the inside of the hose clamp with rubber and tightened it down. this works great and was free.

Thanks SKS. I was looking for some small mirrors to use for backing into the garage. Thank you for the information, I will keep looking for options.
