I know there were quite a few people who have posted before on the forum about having the infamous clutch slipping problem. However, I see very few people posting a follow up. I don't know if this is because it was fixed and they moved on, they got frustrated and sold/traded it after repairs or if they were just posting to stir the pot.

So please, those who have posted with clutch issues can you post a "After Action Report" and let us know what happened and what you are doing now.

Even if it is, "I traded it in on something else". It would be nice to know what and how that is working instead.

Thanks!

No clutch problems here. They will probably go 15 or 20k miles or more without major work. Got a 700-4 with over 4100 miles and a 500 with over 400 miles and no problems and thinking about going for a 1000-5. No fear of a clutch problem here. Nope not gonna trade either one on something else other than a Honda. I've been around those other brands and don't want anything to do with them other than they are pretty and sit up tall and need maintenance. I want 3 seat belts in the front and the peace and comfort of a Honda. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble but other than keeping up on the road and a kind a crappy suspension these babies I have are great and a bit warm LOL.

I don't have a SXS yet. Just my 07 Rincon.

However, I am really thinking hard about getting a Pioneer 1000-3 or the Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe.

I want to learn more about potential issues with the DCT. I was doing research about Honda DCT's in general and I have found some disturbingly similar failure modes on some African Twin motorcycles. In the case of the AT, it almost caused some serious injuries. Not likely to happen on the Pioneer, but the spiking revs (false neutral) and then engagement is basically identical to what was happening on the Pioneers that were having problems.

I wanted to see what the results were with those who had this issues with their Pioneers which have seemed to die down over the last few months. I don't recall seeing the screen names of those that were having problems after reporting their issues.

After they swapped my whole clutch out instead of me waiting on backorder parts it's been flawless. Still shudders on steep hills some but no slipping. Seems like shift solenoid might be a tad louder but no big deal.

Just get the Honda. Seriously, if there is any chance you have family or friends around and have a place to ride then get the multi seater. It's a no brainer on the short reliable machine. Just my 2 cents.

I had one like this also, 1000-5 non deluxe, something got in the valve body during assembly and stuck a valve. Caused the clutch to slip until it locked up, causing the creeping in gear and hard to shift D-N-R.

Well, my clutch just fried. Just fired it up and took it down the road. Wouldn't shift out of first. Gear indicator wasn't reading any shifting, just showed a minus sign. Turned it off with the hopes it would just reset or something but it got worse when I turned it back on. It wouldn't go at all. Towed it back and loaded on the trailer. Clutch issues is the diagnosis thus far but they said the good news is that it's covered under warranty. 758 miles.

Mine didn't strand me. The replacement clutch baskets have the same part # as always, but my repair order listed chamfering the oil relief valves. My 1000-5 from new clunked while running through the gears now it clicks and feels like it shifts more solidly.
