Well we started out between Jemez Springs and Cuba, 1.5 hours northwest of Santa Fe, then we went up to the Pecos wilderness which is about 1 hour east of Santa Fe.

The best climate for camping, unlike the humid Midwest, no bugs or spiders, and at elevations above 8,000 feet, no snakes. Got stopped by a game warden though, checking registration, and was warned that a shovel and a steel bucket are required accessories for camping in New Mexico national forests. So I’m researching mounts now for shovel/axe.

Love New Mexico. My father was raised in Aztec (south of the NM/CO line from Durango) and my mother was raised in Roy (NE NM). As a child I lived three years in Artesia (SE corner). We try to make it up to the Taos/Red River area every year. In fact, we'll be going up in August to stay a week at a friend's cabin in Valle Escondido, on the Enchanted Circle between Taos and Angel Fire.

We try to make it up to the Taos/Red River area every year. In fact, we'll be going up in August to stay a week at a friend's cabin in Valle Escondido, on the Enchanted Circle between Taos and Angel Fire.

Taos is a great place to hang out. Doc Martin’s!!!!
The enchanted circle has a couple of trail systems along it. Will you be bringing your Talon? Red River (just around the enchanted circle from Angel Fire) has a trail. We could come and ride..

We plan to. But, the trip is mostly visiting with the friends who own the cabin, a little golf, a little fly fishing. I'm hoping to get some riding in for sure.
