Here is a picture of my oil filter fanned out at 111 miles. Seen another member post a similar picture. Figured I would add mine.

nope, normal for 1st change. That's why it is so important. Gets all the fine shavings they left behind.
Mine had the same amount. So did ohanacreek's.

Mine was the exact same on first oil change. I thought the same thing as you so I took it to the dealer and they said it was normal.

Re: Oil Filter @ 111 miles.

First oil change is nasty.... It's breaking in and the metal is rough, don't care how well machined it is there are still high spots that will wear and smooth out with use.

Second oil change for me @255 miles had some (but not as much as the first oil change )metal in it BUT I have pulled 158 trees with it.... Also the reason I changed it at 255miles/55 hours instead of 600miles and 100 hours of use.

Oil Filter metal shavings,

just got done with my first oil change on my Pioneer 700, 22 hours, I had read last night on here that there would be metal shavings in the oil filter, so I cut it open when I got the old one off, more shavings than I had thought their might be, but in the post I read last night, they said there would be quite a bit. it was an easy oil change, nothing like the old Big Red. 30 minutes and I was done with the change and filling it back up with oil. so far so good. I'm liking it

Re: Oil Filter metal shavings,

Mine also looked like that. Even when you do your second oil change you will get some. It's normal. Nothing to worry about.

well I'm looking forward to the next oil change, get some more of those shavings out of there. I was surprised at how many were in there

Did oil change today, oil,DCT and sub trans. The filters were chocolate colored and had metal shavings in big filter. DCT oil was coffee colored and filter was clean of shavings. The sub trans oil looked a bit cloudy but light drained through coffee filter and found no shavings. Hoping all is well.

When I did my second change on my 700 it had some metal shavings in it but not like the first one at all they were really tiny shavings. It's normal as long there is not any chunks in the filter. Shavings is nothing to worry about.
