Thank about a person that smokes, they barely cracked their window when they're going down the highway which creates a Venturi effect and pulls the smoke out. This is what happens in our pioneers with the windshield on. The wind rushing past the windshield creates a negative pressure zone in the cabin which allows it to pull the dust from the back and through all the cracks around the engine compartment. In my experience, the rear panel for the five seater did help reduce dust and our three seater with the rear panel which is the same as the five seater mid panel, it also helps reduce dust.

" jak9922" lmfao grilling hotdogs on a stick over an open popo hahahahaha

That makes sense...thanks!

I have the glass window, fabric doors front and back and the soft rear panel.

The dust is suckzilla. What I noticed is there's air coming through the shift wells. I think that's the big deal. That's where all the dust is coming from. If you could make a vent like the one on Amazon, and get a small plenum and a high cfm fan that would be great

No good advice from me on how to solve - I am installing the mid panel (which I thought I would never do) to try and stem the tide - I swear after a few of my rides you could have planted tomatos on the dash in the accumulation.

I just ordered one too, let's see how it works! Thanks for the input guys, will post pics when I get it installed

Hi Alexbar,

So how did it go? I have a custom front shield with 3 inch vents at the bottom but figure the more air flow the better.

Thanks, Bill

It just came in, and I haven't had a chance to install it yet. How well do the vents help with airflow?

Hey There, Will be curious how it does for you. On the windshield that we have currently have the vents pop up on the driver and passenger side and when they are completely open it pretty much eliminates the dust but they cannot be cracked open as the swirl starts immediately after that. The other problem is that the air flows right in your face and when cold out it is gets cold. We are considering goggles or simply wearing a helmet but for now we are not on any real hard trails. I am hoping that a vent at the top will do the same thing except better. As for the back windshield, with the seats up there is only about 10 inches open and I thinking a piece of plexi clamped in as a test on this as well before buying windows I don't need.

I installed two of the roof vents that somebody showed earlier. One for the front seat and one for the back. I wanted to put both in the front but unfortunately due to the molded shape of the roof I had to mount it in the center over the mirror. I haven't tested it yet to see if it helps with the dust. I'll let y'all know. Ae54c2ad7fa958fce47803a7c8a44522B25f8eb61f0f8bfe6163545de279e792

Need to get a water softener, all the water spots on the bottom of your roof. or ride in a lot cleaner areas. Two frickion mud holes and two hours later, cleaned up up, some what.

Man those look good, let's hope they work. I've been so busy lately I haven't gotten around to installing mine yet. Hopefully this week I can get to it. We've had some nice rains here lately so that's really helped with the dust for the time being.

Your install looks good, what did you use to cut the roof? I was thinking about just using a dremel tool

I used a rotozip. The dremel would work great too.

I think the vents should work out very well. They use them alot in horse trailers to direct air flow into and out of the trailer. Alot of times most guys run with the front one facing forward and the rear one facing back. Might see how that works.

What did you use for fasteners? I was thinking rivets should work pretty well

I would like to know if anyone has installed the 2-piece polycarbonate window to reduce the inswirl of dust. My friend has a John Deere and he has a 2 piece window which when hes on the gravel he lowers the bottom of the window which provides a positive airflow in the cabin which helps reduce the dust swinging in around the front and into the cab. I want to install the 2-piece polycarbonate window on my 1000-5 but i was hoping someone would have a little input on whether honda's poly window would help with the dust? Any info would be great!!
I had to build a custom pole I glass windshield on the back as honda doesn't offer a hard back glass for the very back. It helped some but haven't come up with solution on dust other than windshield folded in in half
