So basically the Ram had a more luxurious interior, but lacked in most other measures?

I don't know about all the bells and whistles. At some point it's neat but it's not necessary. I have never kept up with the latest tech tho so I probably couldn't benefit anyhow.

Before I bought my 18 platinum f150 I was looking hard at the limited ram. It was nicer inside than the ford. No doubt about it. Ram has the nicest interior...

That’s what I took from the article is that the Ram wasn’t the truck to tow with but was the truck if you wanted a mallcrawler.
I just give you the straight facts as I find them. You can interpret them anyway you like. But just FYI, in this article it states tow rating for the Ford is 13200, Ram 12750, a 450 pound difference hardly makes one a mallcrawler.

I still think if you are towing >6-7k on a regular basis the 3/4-1 ton is the way to go. Towing 5500 lbs with my F150 (5.0 and 3.55 with oversized brakes, so in no way set up for towing major loads) is a bear vs towing the same load with dads 1 ton. It's not really the motor, more the way that weight "pushes" the lighter truck. You just feel way more planted in his.

As others have mentioned- mileage is comparable with a comparable load. Mileage unloaded may add up if you drive a lot tho, so that concern is understandable.

Frankly with the same 10 ply Cooper AT3 XLT on both trucks, the ride isn't all that different unloaded either IMO...

Max for most SRW is still around 15k the MaxTow is 13k, the diesel would be much better but long term maintenance and repairs will be more. The F350 is 3300lbs heavier.

Looking I’m shocked that the F-150 is 800lbs lighter than our 2015 explorer...probably explains the 23mpg hwy vs the 19mpg the explorer is rated for.

Yeah but what fun would this thread be if we didn’t prod each other.

My brother towed the same 5000(ish) lb boat through the ozarks with my grandfather hemi 4x4 ram quad cab and a first gen ecoboost and he said it wasn’t even close to the same. He thought the hemi was going to blow the motor going up the hills and it was at rev limiter. The ecoboost rarely shifted down... real world comparison with the same driver and same thing being towed. I’m just the messenger though... maybe he will chime in. He’s on this forum.

I’ve driven both 1/2 tons Ford and Ram, we had new Fords at Walmart before I left, EB and 5.0 liter. We towed a variety of trailers with different weights with them, and I towed a 31 ft travel trailer that weighed around 7200lbs loaded and towed a variety of other trailers with my Ram. They all handled the various loads pretty well. With that said, everyone has a different perspective and opinion on what that actually means.

I had absolutely no issues towing that load with the Ram. And I averaged 11 mpg, not bad for a lifted truck with large tires. And just FYI, that’s without a tuner or any other mods.

Arguing over 1500 trucks towing is comparable to arguing over arena league football. When you guys get to the big leagues and quit pussyfooting around. Start a thread! Lol
There scared of the power the Cummins engine has. Might not be able to handle it and don’t want to be embarrassed ;)
