Update, went with #4, currently using 1" rear spacers
If I was running 11" rears, I wouldn't have needed spacers

Thanks for the inputs!

So I just picked up a used 16, with only 30 hours and 130 miles on it. it might as well be brand new because its never seen rain or mud.

Anyhow that's about to change because prior to buying I spent months lurking on this forum learning the pro's and con's of this machine and the 1000+ accessory combinations that exist. With that said, I've not seen the exact answer that I'm looking for regarding tire size/rim combos

I plan on going with 12" rim, 27" zillas because I loved them on my atv, they suit my terrain, and I know they run closer to 26". I'm also leaning to running 9" wide rears to reduce power loss

I would like to stay within 52" OAW so I'm considering the following options and would love outside opinions on which of these scenarios you would pick (if limited to just these). I don't plan to rotate

1. OEM wheels 27x9 front, 27x11 rear (assumption- within 52" but too tippy)
2. OEM Wheels 27x9 front, 27x9 rear, 1 inch spacers in rear (assumption- within 52", less power loss with narrower rear, but too tippy)
3. 5-2 wheels, 27x9 front, 27x11 rear (assumption- right at or just over 53")
4. 5-2 wheels, 27x9 front, 27x9 rear, 1 inch spacers in rear (assumption- right at 53" with less power loss than 11" rear)
5. 5-2 rim 27x9 front, 4-3 rim 27x9 rear (assumption about the same width as option 4 but no need for spacer)

Thanks for your input
I love this board and how active it is!

Welcome from The Great Lakes State.

I would recommend option #4 from what you are looking to do. Using option #4 will also allow you to rotate (incase you ever need or decide to).

Don't know bout the 500 but I own a 19' P1K5 and still riding the stock setup & very happy with it (27x9 front, 27x11 rear, 14" rims). Welcome to the club from WV!!

#4. I have 5+2 with 9 inch width all around,no spacers at all. I like how I can turn better in tight areas because my front tires stick out more than the rear. Less resistance is a plus for me. The main reason I bought wheels is I thought the stockers were fugly.

One of the main reasons I like this scenario is the turning and less resistance!

Thanks for the responses so far, happy to be here!

Congrats on the new machine and welcome!

I would vote for 27x9/11s and 5+2 wheels because the stock wheels are ugly, and a little extra width makes it less tippy. I wouldn't run spacers tho.

great feedback! I feel like I can make an order today (#4) and feel pretty well supported about the decision. Worst case, I can buy the wider rear tires after the fact. I mean whats another $200 bucks after I just purchased $3500 worth of accessories!!

1" spacers in the rear will make it the same width as the front. Asking about tire/wheel combos is like asking about the weather everyone will have a opinion. welcome from Idaho

X2, this is a great combo. I had 12” ITP steel wheels that were 5+2 and 26x9-12 Sedona Mud Rebel RT’s on all four corners. Here’s a few videos of my old 500 on trail 22 and Windrock.

I like #4 . I just put 27/9/12 front and rear with 5-2 wheels. I think you will find your about 52” in back with no spacers. I am running 2” rear and 1” front spacers with this arrangement and I’m at 56” rear width. You could give it a try without spacers and add them if you think you need them.

Welcome, from Maine!

I'm new too and am debating exactly the same thing and it's a choice between #4 & #5 for me :)

I think the likelihood or me rotating tires is pretty much zero, and having less mechanical components is appealing, so #5 was what I was thinking on ITP Delta steel rims, but I love seeing the inputs from the forum.

So I went with number 4. I found some pretty basic ITP rims so I'll take pics and list my measurements with and without spacers, for anyone that might be interested. I'll update the original thread thanks for all the suggestions so far!

The side eye that my wife gave me was priceless when there was a mountain of parts boxes stacked in front of her garage door yesterday !
