I'm installing a 2 1/2 inch highlifter lift on a 2017 P3 1000 LE. After removing the upper front shock bolts, you install a steel plate that runs through to the other side. It looks like Honda may have added a new part to the 17s where this plate mounts to. I can't remember this part on the 16s but I may be wrong. Can someone look at your 16 and see if it is there? Picture is looking from the drivers side front wheel well. The 17s have a new air box cover that helps prevent water ingestion and I'm thinking this is also a new deflector that helps divert water away from the intake somehow. It's attached with 3 push pins.

I bet that deflects water from the steering shaft area where water flows in like crazy when splashing through puddles.

Yea, I looked at it again. Another part to get for anyone with a 16 that wants to upgrade to the 17 changes. This part and the Fox shocks prevents you from putting the 2016 Highlifter lift kit on a 17.

I've got a Highlifter Lift kit for sale! Only fits a 2016. I'll even help you install it. Takes about an hour.

I'd say you're correct. My '16 definitely does not have that piece. I wonder if Honda will offer it as a retrofit. (For a small purchase price of course).

Looks like it might help deflect heat from the shifter holes also?
