So here it is.....was a pia getting those 50lb ones on lol. Anyhow, just letting it open it is about 7 or so inches above the hood. Pushing to full extension was about 10 inches off the hood. Seemed to hold well, didn't go for a ride yet, this was just the test.
I will have to glue the bottom rubber seal on, cuz honda didn't. Lol.

Can't wait to hear how it does on a good ride. I've added all the parts to my watch list for later. I would like to know your measurements on where you mounted everything.
I could have used this last weekend.

I dont know how long it will be until I get out on a "good ride" I live in Michigan, so I won't "need" to have it open for a while lol.....anyhow, I will work on the measurements, but honestly, I just eyeballed it.

So I went for a quick ride last night and the 50-pound struts Aren't Enough even just going down the road, it starts to push shut. So the concept works but I need to use a fish scale like was suggested to see exactly how much force it needs and then add some more to it to be sure it holds it open.

Love your idea.

I don't think the strut strength is your problem. None of those struts will hold up to the wind force pushing on that big piece of glass. The Polaris system didn't even rely on the struts to hold it open. Come up with some kind of latch detent and you're gold.

Great job on this. Very clean install.
A simple fold out strut near each corner, that rests on the ROPS.

LIKE the idea, Might need a stiffener across the bottom, mine flexes I'd be afraid to hit a bump have the metal flex and the glass crack.

That may be why the polaris system has that handle type thing as pointed out by @Dlgarus

Take an old snow shovel with a handle and cut like 6" dowel and shove down the handle. Screw a hinge to the window frame and to the dowel in the handle handle.

Then just buy a ratchet arm for a gun mount, screw it into your dash and push the thing forward till the handle latches into the thingies thingie. Just like polaris

Could you aquire a small piece of tubeing and cut it to the same length as the chrome shaft once extended. Split the tubeing down the middle. Snap the tubeing over the shaft once the windscwind is opened. This will keep the windshield opened until the tubeing is removed. This should be done on both sides to avoid possible flexing and damage. If you can find a flexible tubeing like surgical tubeing it will offer a slight cushion effect.

Also I am looking at some sort of system where I can just unclamp the bottom clamp and rotate the bottom out about 6", it pivots nicely on the top clamps. Just gotta come up with some linkage or...?Then I could leave rubber seals in place for if it rains.
I did exactly what your saying when I was out camping. Took 2 1x3 and unclamped the bottom clamps. Shoved the window out and was able to keep the clamp around the bar just not attached and it gave a small gap for fresh air. Of that makes any sense. Definitely helped would like to find a way to push it out farther though and still be secure.
