Doing some digging today on the 2018 P1K parts fiche. The 1st clutch guide gear ( the gear in the middle of the outer clutch for you guys who have done their own repairs) is 2018 only. I havent run across anything else yet. Will update when i can.

On a side not i haven't read anything from Honda or been tols by anyone anything about chamfering anything. May be a secret from that dealership.
so are you saying that the clutches are different on the 2018 model than the clutches on the 2016 and 2017 model. does it look like a new clutch for the 2018 model. it should fit the 2016 and 2017 model right it is different than the past clutches.

Sounds like he's saying clutch is same but delivery of the oil to that outer set has changed is what I pick up.

Can confirm clutches and center gear are same as well as the inner guide. But the outer guide gear and also the clutch cover itself is different. Part numbers are new for both parts. Havent got to check much else, but main shafts seem to be the same, along with the oil pump and rear engine cover.

Im betting this is the fix Honda has coming soon. They would have to fit everything else is the same. They might have made the cover with a larger hole to provide more oil
Anything on oil cooler or oil pick up change?

Whatever the update is? My dealer is saying earlier December is they time frame. My question is if you don't have a problem should you update or wait until you do have a clutch needing replacement?

I'm thinking cooking a clutch and having @Delton tow you home is going to suck (once on the trail and again later when he posts the video and gloats).
Get the update and you can thumb your nose at Delton.

The "fix" is supposed to be added oil flow and cooling. I don't see that as a negative on the good rigs or problematic ones. But I'll bet that stuff will be back ordered for a damn long time. Might only be dealer emergency rigs that have access fora bit

if the 2018 engine is the same as the 2016 and 2017 engine then what ever clutch fix that Honda has done to the 2018 should fit right on the 2016 and 2017 if in fact the engines are the same. lets keep our fingers crossed and this fix will make these things bullet proof.
