Agreed, very unconventional to reach for a lever after 14 yrs of it being a button right on the handlebars.
I bypass them also. Push red button down pull brake back put a zip tie around lever. Same principle as above. Don't have to mess with red button no more.
Its simple tighten the nut up while down shifting and then it clicks into reverse tighiten the jam nut boom no more lever pull
Yes. I have bypassed all of mine so long when I get on one that has not been done. I can't rember how to put it in reverse lol.
Interesting...I'm thinking about doing the reverse lever trick. Is there any downside that you can think of?? Sounds like a no brainer, especially if it wont engage until you stop anyway.
I agree with Jak. Mine has been like that since 2nd day I bought it. 9mo now. No problems. If I would not read this post. I done forgot about doing bypass.
Good to hear, the few times my wife drives she cant seem to figure out the reverse thing. This should make it simpler...or maybe I should leave it the way it is!!

Can you accidentally go into reverse? Sometimes I get a little happy with the shifting and am afraid I will be moving forward and hit reverse. Also my son drives and he has selective hearing and will hit rev limiter and not shift, drive over the septic and shift in and out of 4wd , drive with parking brake on and complain about how crappy and slow it is ( well the brake is on) oh and he pulls the brake so hard I can't release it. He needs retrained every time he drives. Sorry for venting I would love to not use the reverse level but if something can be broken it will be.
