What do you guys think did this, cross threaded from shock revalve, or lack of no limit straps. I had the shocks revalved last march with new springs. Only had 250 miles on rig, a 2021 1000R. Made one trip to Coos Bay in August put on fifty more miles a little sand on the rods. Then October - November went to Moab and Sand Hallow. After one week at Moab shock was collecting dust enough to notice. By the time we got home we had put about another 750 miles on rig. Keep in mind, mostly easy rock crawling and dirt roads, sand trails, with no air to speak of, too old for that s***. Sending shocks back to builder for repair, just need some thoughts on the gland being cocked in barrel, if anyone has seen this before, or I'm I just lucky?

It’s cross threaded or at a minimum f***ed up somehow - needs to be repaired.

Not from the lack of limit straps.

If this is how they sent them to you - which they did - wow!

Yes, that was my thought, cross threaded, just can't imagine somebody doing that. Paid big bucks for that craftsmanship. Boxing up and putting on the brown truck.

Just found out, that part is not threaded, it's a press fit dust cap. That makes repairs cheaper. :)

What brand of shocks? Press fit dust cap? Dust cap leaking oil? Something dosen't add up.

Fox 3.0 stock rear shocks 1000R. Never had one apart, just going by what I was told, sort of makes sense, hard to cross thread that bad, was told the packing gland is behind the dust cap and held in with a snap ring. Maybe main seals are leaking oil and pushing dust cap out because it has a better seal, who knows. All boxed up and off to UPS tomorrow, will see what's wrong when they tear them apart.

That's just a dust cap. The seals are behind that cap. The leak is from the seal and is definitely a problem.

Mind if I ask who revalved your shocks?

Not at the moment, I want to wait and see how they treat me on the repairs. After I get them back, I will do a review. To be honest everybody f***s up sometimes. Don't want to be negative until I find out what their customer service is like. @SLOWPOKE693
