where did u get the parts to make that sander and a ballpark on cost

Hey @sajnaj. I used this: DIY Knifemaker's Info Center: BG-272 DIY 2 x 72" Belt Grinder as a rough plan to make it. I purchased all the steel at my local steel supplier. Found a 2hp 3ph 220V motor new in box on CL, purchased the VFD and drive wheel from Amazon, the tracking wheels from Ebay, and all the switches, buttons, electrical enclosure from Digikey. I'm into it for a little under 1k CAD, so probably like 800 USD. Plus a bunch of time, but that was part of the fun so we won't count that. It's comparable in power and features to 3k+ USD belt grinders, so theoretically still ahead. Once I get it completed, and finish testing, I've taken lots of pictures and will be doing a write up on it, maybe even some better schematics, we'll see.

Here was some early beta testing when I first got the electronics going. Don't have any pics yet of grinding since I finished it, will be coming soon.

Ground my first knife ever on the grinder today, got it all heat treated, and tempered, ready for final polish and scale installation.

Of course they had to be old Mopars and my 67 Coronet was my baby, went from a 451" big block to an aluminum headed 501" big block to an all aluminum blown 496" Hemi with 2 1050 dominators.

My final incomplete Mopar. Swapped the rolling chassis Coronet for this 33 Plymouth 5 window coupe. It was going to weigh about 2400 lbs. with me in it and have the all aluminum dyno proven 1100 hp HEMI in it but life happens!

I threw this together over the last couple days with some parts I had laying around. Looks pretty good but needs a lot more work. Lights are wired to 12v in the photo but will be on a solar charging battery and set to come on at dusk.

My daughter tagged me in a pic on Facebook. This was the first major project I undertook in my car hobby. It only ran 10.20's @ 129 mph back in 96. It had an iron headed 440 with a single dominator back then. Same paint and was all fiberglass except for the new steel quarters and rear bumper. Had a Dana 4 link with 4.56 gears and a 16" x 33" tire. I noticed he kept the same rear wing but changed the hood.

It's cool to see everyone's hobbies..

I have a few;

Firearms
Knives
Flashlights
Motorcycles

10 or so years ago, our daughter talked me into restoring a motorcycle. We did it together, which is what made it so cool. However, I enjoyed it so much that I continued to do several more. Here are a few;
The first was a '74 CL175. What a sweet little bike. I should've kept it.
After that, I stumbled on a '77 CB750 Hondamatic.. no pics
Then, I found 5 Mini-Trail 50's from a retired Shriner. One K1 was so far gone, I just sold it piece by piece. Another K1 I sold to a buddy of mine, and we both restored one each. Complete.. (the yellow/silver) The forth was a K2, that I did quite a bit of work on & sold. The last was a super, super clean K1 that I kept up until this year. (red/silver)

I'm now down to just three motorcycles.. a 1978 Honda Hawk, 5000 original miles.. and looks it. My 1981 Yamaha Seca 550 that I bought new in 1981.. 17K on the clock, still perfect. Last, but not least, my "normal" bike.. 2005 Gen 1 Hayabusa. Out of all the dozens of motorcycles I've owned in the last 40 years, it is the best all around sportbike I've ever owned. It is a bit hard on tires.. but dayum, it is fun.

**EDIT! Crap.. I lied. I do have one more. Setting in my shop now is a 1975 Honda CB550F. The bike is all there, but in need of a LOT of my time, which I don't have right now. Probably a winter project.

Nice bikes @mjn . Are you on Facebook and if so, have you joined the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle group? It's a pretty cool group, especially for FB. They kick out anyone who acts like a d***. Japanese Vintage Motorcycles
