I am still running my stock shocks on my 2017 pioneer 1000-5. Been looking into an upgrade to improve ride quality. Any opinions on the elka stage 3 vs the 814? Like to add some lift to my machine as well. Thanks in advance

Any of those will be 10 times better than stock. I have fox and don't regret the purchase after
7000 miles on the fox shocks.

Welcome from the once Great State of michigan!

depending on how much money you want to spend, all the upgrade shocks are better than stockers. I have Fox and upgraded the springs. Been very happy.

this is your first post and no intro!
so...Pics Or It Didn't Happen 🤟

PS Id love to go hunting in Newfoundland some day!

i can't comment on the 814's,but i have the Elka stage 3's and absolutely love them.30 clicks of adjustability sounds like it's unnecessary, but once you start playing with them you find out quickly how much you will actually use them.for me it was worth the cost.the difference from stock is night and day.

Elka S3s are great.
just really think about how you load the machine and put all the extra weight on the form so they can get your springs right.

i first ordered them with bare stock machine weight and 2 riders considered. which when it was loaded like that it rode awesome. but when i loaded it up in the back (people or lots of gear) it was way too soft and rubbed in the rear (i have 30s on SATV arms in rear). had to get a stiffer set of springs.

it rides a lot better loaded now but not as good when im by myself and unloaded.
cant have it both ways i guess...

I’ve also installed the 814’s on mine. Better ride and gained 1-1/2 in of ground clearance.

Are there any options that don’t cost insane amounts of $$$.
I’ll go back to 12” rims before I dump $1k on shocks on something that is more utilitarian than sport for me.

You definitely have to open your wallet for a decent ride. Doubt you could replace new stock shocks for less than 1K. You won't go wrong with either one. I myself am still on the fence, considering WE's also.

4 to 6 weeks custom tuned. 2999 from ishock. I tried to call elka direct and they sent me to ishock to order from
That's a better deal than from Canada, mine got hung up at the border until I paid the Excise Tax. Does the include Taxes $ 2,999.00 with, when they come across the border they will be subject to Canada Excise Tax and your local tax rate, I got a letter in the mail for the State Tax.

For a 1000-5 you should have looked at the 814’s a little closer. The overall suspension geometry will never get you to the ride of a CanAm. I installed the upgraded 814 trail versions on my P1k5 and they work great along with another 1-1/2” clearance for$1k less.
