I recently sold my '07 Rincon to ride with friend(s) more comfortably on a P5 so I can drive it on the state trails with the 50" maximum width restrictions. I can't help but think how REALLY nice the P5 would be if it had that engine and transmission. Three speed Hydro or if they made a 5 speed hydro with auto and paddle shift. I think that would have the best of both worlds, great engine/tranny and drive it on state trails.
Anyone else have the same feelings? Any chance Honda would make a rig like this down the road?

If Honda does that they need to upgrade the suspension. I am satisfied with the power but give me better shocks.

Yes, I would be all over a 55" machine with the Rincon 3 speed or new Rubicon DCT.
Both already have the layout for a paddle shift system.
If this happened... there would be one in my garage ASAP. I think that would be a home run for just under 10K.

Doesn't the P700 have the 680 motor and the 3-speed?...

But yea, 55in wide with long travel suspension and the 680 motor. And under 1200 lbs. Sounds fun! I'd prefer 5 or 6 gears tho instead of 3.

You guys keep saying 55". The restrictions around here are 50" wide and 1" lugs. Is that not the case around the country?

It's the 50" restriction that's the problem. Up here in MN we have hundreds of miles of state trails to drive on but you have the width rule.

The Rincon Engine would be nice if they could make it fit but not with the auto tranny. I had a Rincon and really liked it except there was no engine braking and here in Colorado I was having to stand on the brakes on long down hills more than I wanted. Several times I would stop just to let the brake cool. The tranny using electric shift was fun except on steep hills.

The Rincon is 38.5 or 39 hp and the P5 is 28.5.

To be honest, I miss the smoothness of the shifting. I don't recall the engine braking issue being a problem but then we don't have the terrain you have out west.

We have no such restrictions in Alaska. They might restrict the type of vehicle in some areas but that's about it. I went with the P500 partly because of its narrow stance and light weight, but I would not mind at all if it was a little wider.

The P700 says 36.4. 7 more horsepower may not seem like a lot but it is a 25% increase. I'm sure it would be very noticeable.

On another note, I thought the following was interesting. Surely the P700 feels faster than the P500 right?

Power to Weight Ratio:
2016 Honda Pioneer 500 Horsepower – 28.7 HP
Pioneer 500 Horsepower to Weight Ratio – ( 28.7 HP / 1,010 lb ) = .028 horsepower per pound

2016 Honda Pioneer 700 Horsepower – 36.4 HP
Pioneer 700 Horsepower to Weight Ratio – ( 36.4 HP / 1,261 lb ) = .029 horsepower per pound

The Yamaha Viking has 46.9 hp and is insanely reliable. WTH honda?

Torque and gearing, the 500 has both. I have not seen a Viking on the trail, but when I watch the R spec on youtube it always sounds like an RZR 800 in high gear and seems to bog down.

I've driven a Viking a bunch. They are really loud in the cab, but the suspension and ride is plush and it has more legroom than anything else I've seen. But the footprint is giagantic
