Just putting some finishing touches on the rear storage box I built over the winter here in NL. Canada for my 500. I wanted something with plenty of storage room and something that would look good on my sxs.

Nice job and has a great look! This may be one of those guys that never comes back and what I gather from the pics is that it's made of plywood, nice cuts and finish. Probably 2x2 framing behind it with a piano hinge underneath. Top rail is definitely custom made and looks BA! Wonder what he did to seal the lid though? Hinge area looks susceptible to water but nothing a piece of rubber wouldn't fix. ;)

It's made from 5/8 plywood. No 2x2 as I wanted it as light as possible. Inside corners are reinforced with angle brackets bent to the shape of the corners. Under the piano hinge I added a 2 inch wide strip of inner tube to make it leak proof. The lip around the cover is 1.5 inch flat aluminum. I sprayed the entire box with several coats of Rock Guard Undercoating. My son is a welder so I designed the shape and he did the welding. It's also sprayed with Rock Guard. For cab storage I purchased several bicycle handlebar bays pretty cheap on e-bay and attached them to the roll bars. Used a Plano Ammo Box attached under the passenger side dash to use as a glove box and under the front hood I pit a small 6" x 6" x 16" Stanley Tool box I got at Walmart for $10.

Thanks. Didn't reply earlier because it's been a hectic summer. Some medical issues in the family to deal with. Nothing serious but it kept me busy
Had my first ride since mid June was last week. Sure missed getting out. Now that moose season is open I'm gonna be out for a few extra trips.

Very nice. Glad to see you back again.
I build a storage box for my pioneer 500 with back up lights in it . It Bolt down to the 2 holes that are in the rack on the pioneer 500. I put a piece of carpet under it so it won't scratch the rack. It hold 2 milk crates which holders 2 5 Gal. Pails and cover box behind it. I will try to take a pic. Of it if I can figure it out.
