Looking to setup a winch on my 500.Not sure if I just want a mount upfront or a front/back receiver from KFI. $75 not bad.

The trick part would be putting the receiver up front. Anybody done this or made a custom winch mount, pics would be great.

KFI is making a mount for the 500, but its not finished. The 700 mount is pretty nice especially for $54.

Thanks

I like the idea of the receiver mount. But I would want it to fit well into the front of the machine vs just sticking out the front.
I'm sure someone will have a winch mount out soon.

I welded in 2 pieces of 1" square tubing about 1/8" thick into the front bumper and it's done fine. I think that this will be just as strong as anything that will be made. I used the winch plate that came with the winch to mount it to the pieces that I welded in. I had to get longer bolts to go all the way through the tube and into the winch. I went ahead and got grade 8 since I was replacing. The fair lead was a tight fit but other than that everything was good . Any if you order a winch online , plan on getting more power cable because of where the battery is on these SxS. I ended up getting some welding lead wire from the local welding supply, I think it cost about $25.

Strongmade has a winch plate designed. I put kfi 3500lb stealth on my p5 this past weekend. I tried to take a few pics of the install but the didn't really turn out to well. Pretty similar to obenchain1

what did you wind up using for the wiring harness/relay?
the P500 kit looks like a good way to kill an afternoon!

I went ahead and sprung for the Honda winch mount, and the Warn winch sold by Honda for the p500. IT is very nice. Two things though if you are going to try to install this yourself---which took me, an amateur about 8 hours!! First, the instructions mention in small print you will also need the "accessory wire harness". Yep, you do. It is 8.95. Why didn't Honda just include it in the mount kit and wiring?? Also, you will note that if you follow the instructions, the front winch contact post is buried under the bumper and there is no way to connect the wire so mount the wires to the contacts on the winch PRIOR to mounting the winch into the bumper. The instructions say otherwise but it wont work. Finally, a question. My winch spools the cable off the top. I installed it exactly as per Honda instructions with clutch on left (if you are facing the winch). The Warn winch instruction booklet says something about making sure your Warn winch always spools off the bottom. My in and out switch works perfectly (correct direction) but it is spooling off top. Does anyone know if that is really going to be a problem? Does it have more power one direction than another? I think they got this thing backwards in the directions but I'm not sure.

doolin64,
Did they say when it can be bought (and who from, as they don't sell direct) and delivered? They have not yet put it on their website.
I've been bugging them for a couple of months on the subject. They sent me pictures of an unpainted one in their shop a couple of weeks ago (Oct. 23rd), and I e-mailed them that question over the weekend and am awaiting their response. I also asked about the timing on the snow plow mount.

KFI put the P500 winch mount on the website on 11-24. I ordered mine by phone and should have it on 11-26. I have a Superwinch Terra 35 coming.
KFI also has the snow blade mount ready but not yet on their site. They sent me a spec. sheet with photos and installation instructions by e-mail yesterday. It looks good, compact design tucks in low. It does require drilling 2 holes in the vertical legs of the standard Honda front bumper, 4 bolts total mounting. They said they would sell that direct (like the winch mount) but prefer you go through a dealer when you buy the push tube and blade. I'm getting the KFI Pro-S 66" blade with top flap. I asked their tech. dept. if they thought the P500 would be "overloaded" with the weight of the 66" blade hanging out front. The response was the total weight would be around 125-130# and it doesn't stick out very far, so it should not be a problem.

This is perfect, thanks for the pics, I will use this method.
