Lol. Myself and the 1000 are in New Mexico and the tires arrived at my Oklahoma office. I'll not be back there for three weeks.
Listen fellas. I am not anti devil's tower. It literally looks like a petrified tree stump. Ok I've seen it at least 4 times. I majored in earth science and spent 6 weeks "studying" In wyoming in a 400 level class. Really I was just there for the mountains, drinking and fly fishing. I'm not going to have a s*** fit if we stop. It's just not on, or near, the top of my list. I prefer the grand tetons, glacier np, Denali, the red woods, Yellowstone, grand canyon, rocky mountains, Estes park, just to name a few. But I am willing to stop, have a beer, and we can all talk about how lack luster it is and that it looks like a giant turd.

What are your thoughts on the snorkel/cover that Honda has made and sells to overcome the problem of water splashing from the wheels into the intake??
I truthfully don't have one. I haven't seen the cover yet, and the vast majority just snorkel it since it's so easy and a proven fix. And it's not a huge permanent mod. If you decide to un-snorkel it, it all comes right off and you can get a new hood for 40 bucks. I just redid mine this week.
Saw it installed on @pmward 1000 at the Mulberry ride. Very clean, looks OEM, matches everything else under the hood and cost just around $20.00
If it works it works. Give er a try. I kind of prefer the mean look of the snorkel sticking out the hood.

I don't drive through water that's over a foot, I go around, so I don't need true snorkeling, but even following the ten inch rule, water can splash into the intake without the aftermarket remedy prepared by Honda (at our expense I might add, something I see Polaris perennially criticized for.

I wasn't sure. I ride with some boys that go out of their way to dive off into every source of water we see. If I participated in that, I'd be fully snorkeled, but I'm always going to go around anything other than the typical Creek crossing which in my riding area is rarely over a foot or so.
I don't ain't for it, but I don't go out of my way to avoid the water either.
Well if driving around, left or right of a mud whole is going out of my way, I'm guilty.
