Bears in our area are not a problem. Cats can be bad but a gun won't help wolves if you're near a den or hurt. Moose...different
Any gun seems to move the animals along just fine.

I wouldn't shoot anything bigger than I could eat or store. Except a big ass cat. I'll shoot the s*** out of a big ass cat

This ol girl comes into our yard every few years with her younging. Actually very friendly we welcome her but we have to keep dogs inside. Moose are very unpredictable! Only animals we've had problems with. Had wolves trying to bring the dogs in and a cat that tried grabbing a kid from local campground. Christmas Hills is really good though no problems unless heavy logging year.

I just hope a bear doesn't get to close to my cot tent it may develop several leeks if it does. That is both the tent and the bear.

Seriously in 12 years of continuous camping we've had maybe 6 times of scary but a couple rounds fixes everything!
