Beautiful! I love that V plow option. If I didnt need my truck with a V plow Id have that. When plowing do you guys put sand bags in the bed of your Honda for traction or counter weight? If so how much weight do you use in the bed? Not sure if this has been discussed somewhere on here before?View attachment 414211 View attachment 414212
They didn't recommend anything which I thought was strange since the plow weighs around 420#.Boss should have recommended ballast in their sales literature. I don't typically run anything.
I haven't been running any ballast. I was just thinking that it would help balance it out.Boss should have recommended ballast in their sales literature. I don't typically run anything.
Thank you I'll try it. I've been using it without any weight in the back.Use sand bags to duplicate or slightly exceed weight of snow plow and hardware as a starting point.
Thank and yes I'll give some sand bags a try. Yes it's Butte, Montana.Beautiful! I love that V plow option. If I didnt need my truck with a V plow Id have that.
Looks good. Id put tubes of sand bags in the back for weight and see if it helps. Its something u have to decide yourself.
Also, thanks for the pics and Welcome From Michigan!
Im assuming Butte is in Montana? Or am I wrong?
Thank you12 5 gallon jugs is 60 gallons. At 8.33 lbs/gallon, that's 499.8 lbs
If plow weighs 420 lbs as stated above, it's about 80 lbs more added weight.
Nice set up. Yes mine is heavy and most of the plowing is done in low 2 wheel drive. I did add heavy duty springs up front. I thought the springs would make it ride rough in the summer but it really didn't effect it at all. That’s one heavy ass plow! That’s the main problem with them imo.
I don’t run any ballast in the rear at all with my Denali Pro plow that I bought from the club store. Had mine since 2018 and it’s well used. It will push snow easily without chains until the snow comes over the hood.

I use 4 low manual, if really heavy I’ll kick it into 4 lock. Really no reason in my mind to use 2wd even though it will work.Nice set up. I do have a throttle max and it works great. Your explanation of no ballast makes sense. The plow is usually on the ground. Thanks for your input.I use 4 low manual, if really heavy I’ll kick it into 4 lock. Really no reason in my mind to use 2wd even though it will work.
few years ago I upgraded my shocks from the base model to the Fox shocks. With the plow on I run the shocks in the stiff setting.
Don’t be afraid to use 4wd. Use first and 2nd low with some rpm’s and you’ll be shocked how much you can move before the tires break traction. For sure, don’t ride the gas, go, go like you mean it.
A throttle max will help tremendously if you don’t have one.
Thats a beautiful place!Thank and yes I'll give some sand bags a try. Yes it's Butte, Montana.
I was out that way near Red Lodge few years ago….not quite to Butte….dam beautiful country for a semi time flat lander like myself.Thats a beautiful place!
Montana is a great state if you can handle the long winters snow and cold. The high in Butte on Friday is going to be -3° the low is going to be -29°. Butte is 5500' above sea level so winter stays for quit a few months.I was out that way near Red Lodge few years ago….not quite to Butte….dam beautiful country for a semi time flat lander like myself.
Did some dispersed camping on that trip.
