see the problem with the steering arm and the back side top is bent down while the steering arm is bent up. no power steering and havent busted a steering rod yet but it is time for new tie rodsF00c310fd34cdc2c854c9e7c3eaea346

so these are the hiem jts i got to replace tire rods. they are 1.5 inches shorter than tire rod ends. so i have to bring my steering arm in about 2 inches. and lengthen for less angle on turning and more torque steering from no power steering. welds still need to be cleaned and final pass done then add on steering componentB54b41b6c870cd8a74ef2b6865bcd780341b23e844e5193a1ec4f7f89e97fcc1

ok so almost done with the first one. have to plate the top and then run a brace on the bottom and then drill some holes and bolt it up. then i can start on the next one007cfe948b59029da0a5caee16441a3b740e238cd1ad10f73ae52500a42118baDdd3fccf33bbf382b3e8b7bd792150e5

ok 1 finished product. the steering arm was 3 inches from ball joint now it is 5 -3/4 inches from ball joint and raised a hair and sunk in 2 inches from original steering hole. so this will give me less angle but easier steering. got to wait till it dries while i tear apart the other one. i hope so. lol. i just hope this modification keeps the brackets from bending this time. i added more metal and put a higher angle on the top bracket and also added inside weld under neath which wasnt there before. so if everything goes well in the am itll be exactly how i want it. minus the breaking point i wanted cause i couldnt find the shear bolts the size i needed for the hiems i ordered.

i did mess up i should of went 1-3/4" in on the steering rods instead of 2 inches. i have a slight toe in with the steering rods all the way in. so im gonna hack 2 threads off both sides and put them back on

ok so good write up for what all exactly i did. i cut 4 slats of 2"x 3/16" flat metal 3" long. then 2-7/8inch pieces these i welded 2 sets of together. putting the 3 inch pieces on the outside of the 7/8" pieces. giving me 7/8" gap to . then i tacked them kinda angled upward towards the respectable tire rod. then i put a 2 inch piece ontop of the old steering hole. grinded to butt up to the top of the new steering arm U. at this point. the inside edge of the new steering arms was 2-1/2" inside of the the line center of the old steering rod hole and ball joint hole. then i notched a 5 inch piece of 1/4" and welded to the bottom side all the way to the 90degree curve on the original portal steering arm. i grinded the new steering arm rounded it out then placed bolt with 1/4" gap from the inside and rearside of the tabs. and marked my hole and drilled. now the rod ends i used have a half inch hole and are about 3/4" wide i ran half inch machine spacers ontop and bottom of the rod ends. to keep everything tight and picked them up at tractor supply for a couple bucks. along with m14x2.00x60mm. bolts with flanged nuts to match. this gave me room under the nut to drill a hole for cotter pin. and m14. has no slack inside the rod end where 1/2 inch does. and now my rod ends only costs 27 bucks a set and i dont need power steering.

Thats a mean looking 700. I like to see people build up 700s. Around here it seems the 500s and 1000s get built up and the 700s get ignored. Great job on the brackets.
