Across the the country there are literally 100's if not 1,000's of miles of abandoned rail lines. There are individuals and clubs in the CONUS that buy and restore old inspection cars. They're commonly referred to as Speeder Cars. Some build their own simple rail cars powered by small gas engines. I wonder if anyone has ever thought of making a SXS Rail Rider?

I've seen some home brew ones in the Adirondacks. They weren't using little briggs motors though. These were 2-3 cylinder snowmobile engines. They looked mean, but never saw them going down the rails.

I wish they would just remove the rails and make multi-use trails, but here in NYS, the environmentalists get all upset if you give ATV/UTV access to back woods areas. :(
