This is the public thread for the....
2017 Ride Royal Blue to WindRock Pioneer Overland Adventure
- A private multi night overland camping adventure hosted by the Honda SxS Club!
This thread wil be the PICTURE thread for the 2017 trip happening weekend of Sept 23, 2017. Goal is to leave RRB Friday and return Sunday... Maybe!
TOTAL RIDERS = 27 people - 16 Pioneer Overland Rigs and 11 passengers! All braving the weekend for 2 night, 3 day adventure.
It all started -
around the camp fire at the 2016 Takeover, @joeymt33, @Hondasxs, @JACKAL, @Windrock1000 and several other members decided we wanted to make the RRB to Windrock trip. It would involve tackling some of the most dangerous trails just outside the RRB mapped area headed towards Windrock. Plans were to head to windrock and transport back. Yet, after reviewing, we decided to try full circle and we did!
For 2017.
Each driver had to go over a strict set of rules and requirement to ensure the trip was a success. This included vehicle inspection and supply checklist as set by the Club. Goal is to verify your rig is 100% ready with any serviceable parts corrected prior to the adventure.
Day 1 -
Tackle the difficult trek up the Dragons Back and down Widowmaker.
Friday night base camp will be at the eternal flame. No fire wood needed!
Day 2 -
Adventure into WindRock. Plans are to make it to WindRock overlook and even to the trailhead if needed. Continue on past the windmills and then back into TWRA land. Basecamp plans are uncertain but several destination are marked!
Day 3 -
Head back to RRB trail head. @Hondasxs and @JACKAL have located additional routes along brimstone boundary. Time and location pending, this path will help eliminate many of the dirt roads we took in 2016. Rough goal to make it back to RRB by sunday afternoon!
Why is this a private adventure!
Due to the scope of this adventure, it was important to make it private for several reasons.
- Drivers must be skilled. This is a extreme adventure. You must have proved your ability to handle your own in all challenges.
- Goal was to limit it to 8 rigs. With additional leaders selected we were able to handle 2 groups. We may be dividing groups Friday and head out.
- Rigs and equipment must be overland ready for 2 nights and 3 days! Meaning once you leave the truck you are SOL. Must be self sufficient. Food, water, clothing, fuel.
- Attendees must be club supporting! Meaning they would need to be a lifetime or supporting member of the club to be invited.
- Drivers were required to review the ride requirements and ready list.
- To limit redundant equipment, Things like jacks, tools, air pumps, water pumps, were split up among the group.
- Proper land uses passes are required.
