I just installed a Boss XT snowplow and now the front is sagging from the extra weight. Will Fox shocks help or do I need spring spacers? Thanks in advance.

I installed the western version and experienced same thing. I installed fox shocks on front and added 2 extra inches of preload and it fixed the problem. I also set the foxes to stiff when i have the plow on.

Just my .02 but you can go to a steel shop and get some 2 in sch.40 steel pipe cut 1 in thick for about 5 bucks vs. 700 bucks for shocks.

Spacers on a second set of shock for plow season would be even better.

Pay shipping and you can have my front takeoffs when I get my Fox on in a week or two.

I’m giving the load leveling rear to wife’s cousin for his base model.

Foxes will take care of your sag, and you will have foxy look and the better all around suspension.Putting spacers on a 1000 is just not right.

I don't have a plow here in TN but I did put the spacers on all four corners and it's made one hell of a difference and I saved myself a lot of money.

How do you add 2" of preload? I have the stock fox shocks and feel I need to do this.

Once winter is done, do you remove the 2" of preload?

You'll need a spanner wrench. Use the wrench to loosen the top lock nut on the spring and adjust the prelaod with the bottom nut. Remember to tighten the top nut when you're done.

Does this shorten the life of your shocks or negatively affect them in any way? Maybe its better for them because of the load from the snowplow?

If your front end is sagging significantly, you're probably hitting the soft stop built into the shock more often that usual. Adding preload should improve your performance but you also have the option to install a higher spring rate spring to better support the plow weight

Call Elka/Fox/Eibach

I now have a 250lbf-in on front and 300lbf-in on rear. I have about 1.5” pre-load, measured from where the nut has spring stationary not compressed.
