Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has done the seat belt bypass on a 520 and what did you have to do? Patiently waiting on my new 520 to arrive. Thanks in advance.

My 2015 doesn't have that sensor, but there is a little jumper block you can buy to plug into the sensor connector at the seatbelt connector thingy.

I think the Club Store has what you need.

It's almost too easy. Remove the seat. Remove the push pins to take the driver side half of the plastic off. You can't miss the plug for the seat belt. The video shows a P500 and a wire buried inside. The P520 must be different because the wire is right up top. Literally please g & play. About a one minute job after the plastic is out of the way.

Thanks guys. I didn't know if the 520 was different than the 500.

It is, but it isn't. Anything above 2017 are basically the same as far as I have found. The 520 has a bit different engine and trans, and of coarse the tilt bed, but it's essentially the same machine from what I know.

So..
Are yall confirming the 520 seatbelt connector is the same as the 500?

Bonus if anyone can get me a 520 picture.

Yes sir, it is. I ordered one a couple months ago, works perfectly. Even e-mailed them to thank them for how easy that and the fan override went in. If I get a chance in a little bit here I'll grab a pic.

Ok, first off, just so you know it's a P520. Here's the bed in the background and the decal on the bed lol.

Now, here's an overview of the plug installed. Then a picture of each piece, the one held with the included zip tie and the bypass plug itself. Notice how they are directly on top of everything, no digging around needed 😉

Just remove the plastic from the seatbelt latch. Click the seatbelt into it. Remove the switch when it opens up. Lift and pull gently on the metal contact and it will come out. Reassemble in reverse. This will leave the connection permanently open and seatbelt will read connected forever. No plugs or cutting wires. Takes 2 minutes

Can I ask ‘why’ do it?

For me it’s a habit.

BTW my seatbelt saved my life when my Dodge RAM was t-boned by an idiot who failed to take his epilepsy meds and hit me broadside between 40-50 mph.

Because if I'm just zipping around the yard, doing work, getting in and out frequently...it's annoying.

Is it really any different than being on a diet bike without one or a cruiser without one? And yes, I have survived the car that pulled in front of my cruiser and threw me 30+ feet with not much damage to me.

Difference? If I fell off a bike and it rolled over on me, it wouldn’t crush me or a passenger. But this is Montana- if a guy wants to not wear a helmet on his road bike at 80 and risk crushing his skull and scrambling his brain, to live out his life as a quadriplegic- it’s a free state and his brain to do whatever he wants.

Stay safe.

To each his own and if I were working around the property and getting in and out constantly, the annoying thing would be not being able to go over 15 mph. I personally wouldn't override it as that would be my safety net to ensure I didn't. If going over 15 I prefer to have it on. I hit a hidden root one time doing about 25 and we went for one hell of a ride, machine was bucking like crazy and I was not in control for a few seconds there. Thank God for the seatbelt or I would've bounced my head off the roof and broke my frickin neck. FWIW
Btw, that was before I put WE on and the stock shocks just plain suck.

Just remove the plastic from the seatbelt latch. Click the seatbelt into it. Remove the switch when it opens up. Lift and pull gently on the metal contact and it will come out. Reassemble in reverse. A thank you to @Janesy. I will add that the screws are Torx 10s, and here's an extra pic: (P520)

I did it for convenience around camping area but, nice when I'm in the woods stopped taking a break and a black bear starts easing up on me I have one less thing to mess with for a clean getaway!
