here's what i'm thinking.i'd like to take an old p1k bench seat, strip the padding off,and bolt some aftermarket buckets and maybe a center console to the bench base so i can pull it to check the oil and still swap in the original bench when i need it.problem is,i'm here and my p1k is up there. by just looking at it,think it can be done? think they would sit up too high?

Are you talking about the plastic base the padding is glued to or the frame? I think I saw where someone had fabbed in some seat rails on to the frame and used two buckets up front, but don't remember if it was here or on Facecrook.

Edit: Found what I was referring to:

i'm thinking bolting buckets to the stripped original seat base, not the frame.i don't want to alter anything structural.i want to be able to pull the seat like the original bench.

why not just make the bottoms of the bucket where theyd latch in instead of gutting the old seat. maybe put a console on the passenger side part to cover the gap.

either way i'd have to make a cover that can latch in like the bench seat to keep the heat and steam down,so i may as well strip the bench seat down and use that.

I built them, they added height. If I don’t like it I might build a different set and drop seat another3/4” but I left stock post in so might be a challange

did you have any issues with the seating angle and does it feel ok at the height it's at ? i have a couple of the same seats, and i have a 2 inch thick solid rubber 6"x10" block i can use for shims.i can't start mine till i get back up to the cottage where it's stored, but i have it all thought out, just no hard measurement #'s.

Depende on your height I’m 5’10 and they feel alright but. I’m going to remeasure tonight to see if I can actually bring them down another 3/4” so my 5’3” wife can touch the floor my limiting factor is I’m not removing anything so if needed I can swap back to factory seat in an hour

The base is 3/4” high then I welded upright at 5°.backs move 1-1/2 up/down seat base moves 1-1/2 fore and aft whole assembly moves 1-1/2 fore/aft.. seat assembly bolted to a 1/8 plate. 10 bolts to remove it all and put stock seat back in.
