This isn't much of a 'trail pictures' post as much as it is a story, some of which I've probably told before.

I was at this campsite, minding my own business doing an oil change ... the instant the drain plug cleared, a 1000 mph wind hit from the front of both vehicles, blowing oil everywhere, including a brand new roll of paper towels, they just disappeared. Looking waaaaay off into the desert, I saw a white spot ... that couldn't be them, could it? Yep, that whole roll of paper towels, completely unwound, got stuck on a tumble weed ... waaaay the hell out there.

The solar panel blew from here -

to here; breaking one bungie cord and straightening the hook on the other - Luckily, I don't plug the solar MC4 connectors together enough to latch, so it just unplugged itself with no damage.

During that same windstorm, middle of the night, the lid on the trailer box blew completely open. Think about that for a minute. Here's the box, the lid only extends past the box enough for me to catch my fingertips on it so I can get it open. I'm still amazed that it didn't rip completely off - It's 3/4" plywood, fairly heavy.

Here's a pic of it partially open, it'll lay almost flat to the right side. I have no idea how the wind got under it enough to lift it, other than it was blowing like hell -

The weather is finally breaking, the Talon is back together (new LR axle assembly and upper trailing link) and Utah is right around the corner so here are a few cabin fever photos before the riding season takes off at Warp 9 -

Back in Utah?
Not yet, the weather isn't cooperating. 🥲 I had hoped to leave Friday but the weather gods didn't let that happen.

1. I have two 11k foot passes to get over to get there. That would be OK but - I have a bunch of friends getting together in Arkansas at the end of April - that means that I'd have to travel over those two passes twice west bound and then back east (not towing the Talon to Arkansas) and I'm not comfortable doing that - too steep, too hard on the RV.
2. I had hoped to take a sprint over to Utah, towing with the van (much easier than the motorhome) but the temps were too chilly to live out of the van.
3. So now I'm waiting for the weather, hoping, still, to sprint over in the van, ride, return home to park the Talon, head to Arkansas and visit, return home for the Talon and motorhome, get back to Utah until the heat chases me out.
4. I also have friends meeting in Montana at the end of June, where I head for directly from Utah.
5. The next thing I know, it'll be November -

Camp is the orange triangle in the upper left. Took the lite orange trail down to the squiggly blue creek bed, rode up on the ridge (lower right), Then took the blue all the way back to camp, taking a couple of spurs, one an overlook, the trail just disappeared at the red strike (left of center). I'll try to find it from the other direction since it shows that it goes through.

Good to see that you are back out on the trails. I love to see all the shots you post! we still have 16" of snow on the ground :(
Thanks, Joe. I got sent home early last October because of a torn CV boot and a late spring kept me home til now ... it's good to be back.

Definitely the end of this trail today -

The view from my breakfast nook does not suck - 😍

I've upped my solar from a single 100w panel to three 100w panels because of a buy 2, get one at ~1/2 price, so I did. More details - The RV coach batteries sh*t the bed one day into my October trip without warning. Luckily, I had brought a new Anker Solix C1000 power station and it was enough to carry the load for the next month but, with only 100w, barely. My intent was to go with 200w and make it work but that sale pushed me into 300w. Now I have enough power to run anything that I might want to bring with me.

The van doesn't have an aux battery so the Solix runs everything for me. The 120v brick is running the Starlink, I love that thing. 😍 You can see it on the tripod, outside the passenger's door.

Did you trade your Class C motorhome for an XL cargo van?
Hi, Harvey; glad to see you're still checking in with us - 👍

No, I still have the Class C but opted for the van for a couple of reasons - 1. This is a short trip before I'm headed to Arkansas to meet with friends on the 24th. 2. There are two 11k foot passes between home and Utah, the Class C really suffers on those climbs, especially east bound, taking the van for this quickie saves that wear and tear. It's also much more pleasant to drive but not as pleasant once I'm here (duh ) After Arkansas, I'll be headed back to Utah for a longer stay, and I'll take the Class C.

Since my Ranger ate its second transmission (5 speed automatic), the van has become my daily driver.
