Multi Shots from the trail.

Quick ride up the hill and back today. Be a bit yet before the trails are passable.

This isn't much of a 'trail pictures' post as much as it is a story, some of which I've probably told before.

I was at this campsite, minding my own business doing an oil change ... the instant the drain plug cleared, a 1000 mph wind hit from the front of both vehicles, blowing oil everywhere, including a brand new roll of paper towels, they just disappeared. Looking waaaaay off into the desert, I saw a white spot ... that couldn't be them, could it? Yep, that whole roll of paper towels, completely unwound, got stuck on a tumble weed ... waaaay the hell out there.

The solar panel blew from here -

to here; breaking one bungie cord and straightening the hook on the other - Luckily, I don't plug the solar MC4 connectors together enough to latch, so it just unplugged itself with no damage.

During that same windstorm, middle of the night, the lid on the trailer box blew completely open. Think about that for a minute. Here's the box, the lid only extends past the box enough for me to catch my fingertips on it so I can get it open. I'm still amazed that it didn't rip completely off - It's 3/4" plywood, fairly heavy.

Here's a pic of it partially open, it'll lay almost flat to the right side. I have no idea how the wind got under it enough to lift it, other than it was blowing like hell -

The weather is finally breaking, the Talon is back together (new LR axle assembly and upper trailing link) and Utah is right around the corner so here are a few cabin fever photos before the riding season takes off at Warp 9 -

This is a repeat but it's a good repeat - Eagle Canyon Arch -

This has been here since the first time I rode by it on a dirt bike in the mid 70's -

Back in Utah?

Not yet, the weather isn't cooperating. I had hoped to leave Friday but the weather gods didn't let that happen.

1. I have two 11k foot passes to get over to get there. That would be OK but - I have a bunch of friends getting together in Arkansas at the end of April - that means that I'd have to travel over those two passes twice west bound and then back east (not towing the Talon to Arkansas) and I'm not comfortable doing that - too steep, too hard on the RV.
2. I had hoped to take a sprint over to Utah, towing with the van (much easier than the motorhome) but the temps were too chilly to live out of the van.
3. So now I'm waiting for the weather, hoping, still, to sprint over in the van, ride, return home to park the Talon, head to Arkansas and visit, return home for the Talon and motorhome, get back to Utah until the heat chases me out.
4. I also have friends meeting in Montana at the end of June, where I head for directly from Utah.
5. The next thing I know, it'll be November -
