Wednesday was probably this season's last ride. 😢 🥶 😢 🥶 😢 🥶 It snowed last night but the bigger problem is that we probably won't see any more 60* temps in Denver, my limit since it's about 15* cooler at the 8000' trailhead, the minimum for enjoying myself.

TLDR version (too long didn't read) – yakity yakity yakity yakity

The details if you care -

Wednesday -

This is probably the last ride of the season, it snowed last night but the bigger problem is that it's December, our 60* days are likely over (in Denver), it's about 15* colder at the trailhead and that's the lower limit for enjoying myself.

For reference, the van is about 1/4" south from the blue dot in the upper left corner at the start of the video. The dot is the SPOT location. I'm not sure why the track log is broken, I thought the camera's GPS would see movement whether it was recording or not (I think it was on/standby). How else did it 'see' the U section in the upper left, I only recorded on the two extreme ends?

The first 7:35 is a short out and back which is mostly southern exposure, that's why I took it, I knew it would be rideable if anything was. When I stop at 7:35, the van is just up the road to the left, about 1/4 mile, we're legal on that short connection and it's marked as such (can't plate a SxS here).

At 3:55 a sign post says No Motorized Vehicles but people are obviously using it. It connects another small area that I'd like to ride fully but it's too small to warrant unloading there, hence the draw to break a 'rule'. It gets a lot steeper, narrower and unnervingly off camber for the next 1/4 mile, I want nothing to do with it when complicated with snow/ice. The only reason I can see for it being closed is its off camber, a bigger threat to someone sitting UP on an ATV than a SxS with a lower center of gravity and wider track.

7:37 starts heading back up the top mile of M Gulch (video linked earlier), I wanted to have a looksee. It's also as far as I can get from the trailer, I found that a bit unnerving, given the conditions. I had just turned around, having gone down something I shouldn't have, at 8:06 I'm at the bottom looking up. I wanted to carry some speed but there's a rough spot at 8:12 that spun the wheel to the left which forced me to let up, slowing way more than I wanted to. I was surprised that there was enough traction to climb that without any tire spin.

It's not really noticeable but at 15:10 I lose the RF tire over the edge and had to wait-a-minit for it to come back to its senses. If I had remembered, I'd have slow mo'd it when editing.

Aaannn dat's all, Folks

All that for this -

Red Cloud Mine in La Paz. Talked with the owner and he was nice enough to show us around a bit. In the late 1800's it was a silver, lead and gold mine. Wulfenite is what's currently mined there, I had never heard of wulfenite so it was a pleasant surprise to chat and learn a little bit about it.
