The Gila river and bridge. "Town" of riverside/Kelvin, and Copper basin railway. Much thunder in the distance...

I was on 2 wheels today but got some cool pics to share.

Took a ride up to Pinal Peak with my bud to check out the post fire damage.

Evidence of how high the recent flash floods can rise.

Much cooler temps at 7800+ ft

At least 2 of the cabins in the area were lost in the fire. Here's what's left of one of them.

On the way back to the truck it started to rain and we witnessed roaring rainwater heading towards the town of Miami alongside US60. After loading the bikes up we went back a couple of miles to grab a few pics of the flash flood. Hard to see but that's rainwater gushing in the middle of the pic.

Hard to imagine there would be enough time to get out if caught in one of the washes when this happens.

How do you get up there?

I wasn't too far away today and was keeping an eye on those storms all day, but they went around me.

This is where we staged, right off Pinto Valley Mine Rd and the 60, in Miami.

Then we crossed the 60 and right into the forest. I've attached the GPX track of the day, ignore the tracks after the forest, we went to eat in Globe but the restaurant was closed so we tried another.

Miami was hit hard by the flooding just a few days before, yesterday's water was mild in comparison. Let me know if you need more specific route info, I'll ask my buddy who put this ride together if I cant answer any questions.

There is one spot about 15 miles in that gave us some trouble, we moved a bunch of rocks to create a makeshift ramp to walk the bikes up out of the wash. It will be tricky until more jeep traffic pats that spot down.

Funny...I was looking at that very spot for exploring both sides. I assume the road is now open? They still had a barricade on it last week. I didn't know how long the fire scar would be closed.

Thanks for the info.

According to the signage on the barricade, open on 8/1. My selective memory must've missed that detail yesterday. The barricade was just a small sign but where we exited there was an actual closed gate so I'd double check that this entrance/exit is open before going up. That's where we came out but you can go in and it's an easier/shorter path to Pinal Peak from there.

I've mentioned earlier that I intended to head south and terrorize the SW desert with @Lil_Steve and Julio this spring. What I didn't realize is that I read the memo wrong - it was their intent to terrorize ME. Sadly, I didn't get all that many pictures, survival donchaknow.

Julio (L), Lil_Steve (R). I will say this about these two, iffn I'm pinned down inna foxhole, I want it to be with these two quality men.

Steve chose 2 wheels today and here he's paying the price. You can see the long skid mark from the lower right to his left boot - he had a long time to think how bad this was gonna hurt. He had it picked up by the time I got the camera out. :(

My buddy has been getting better at capturing drone footage on our rides. As impressive as the scenery is being on the ground, the drone really adds a unique perspective of the terrain we enjoy. Here's the dramatic footage from Saturday's ride.

Strings version of Black Hole Sun? Interesting...but appropriate.

Tackett Creek on Sunday. 118 miles but we didn't do any of the hard trails. Broke my 1st axle in the Pioneer at 9900 miles. It's been popping for a few months now. Wasn't sure it was the axle popping until it finally broke. I've never been so glad to break something. I was convinced the frame was cracked because it would only pop when it was on something off camber.
