I found this guy in a cattle pen in the middle of the desert.

I rustled it up and proceeded to ride it on a trail I've never been on before. I turned around at this point because I was alone, and it started raining. But I can now say I've walked the Pacific Crest Trail, even if it was only 10 to take a picture 🤣

I then went to a deer camp we call End Of The Trail Camp. The trail dead ends on top of this rock cropping.

I've mentioned earlier that I intended to head south and terrorize the SW desert with @Lil_Steve and Julio this spring. What I didn't realize is that I read the memo wrong - it was their intent to terrorize ME. Sadly, I didn't get all that many pictures, survival donchaknow.

Steve chose 2 wheels today and here he's paying the price. You can see the long skid mark from the lower right to his left boot - he had a long time to think how bad this was gonna hurt. He had it picked up by the time I got the camera out.

Went for a night ride last night up behind my place to cool off a little and try to get out of the smoke.

I've been here on my last ride a few months ago, but I didn't realize the historical significance of the trail I was on. This is the old Florence to Globe road. Believe it or not, once upon a time this was a major thoroughfare, at least in the late 1800's sense.

The Kane Spring Canyon Stage Road,

Notice the old road works to the side:

Hard to tell here, but this was the road...with a more recent addition...

More evidence...

It's not unusual for older roads to go through washes in AZ, but the results are sketchy at best. Little wonder this road was unreliable. Those frontier types...they were tough SOB's.

Talked the wife in to an impromptu ride at Wayne National Forest. Then our adult daughter says she wants to come along. Fleet of 4 ATVs and the only one that runs is the one with lapsed registration. Oh well.

Had fun, got out of the house. I needed this break from the office.
