can anyone using this snorkel comment on how their big filter is holding up? how often do you replace / clean the small pre filters? Does the unit stick up above the roof (for going into trailer)?

I have only driven one ride with mine, not sure on the factory filter as of yet. I have the metal roof and it does not stick above it..(I have a toy hauler so I was concerned as well). The small screen works great so far. Easy to clean.

do you remember how much stuff you had to take off to install? (Like fender, inside box????) Just trying to get an idea of what is involved other than hole sawing a 3.5" hole

Thanks

Pretty much just the cover of the inside box.. under the right fender.. there are like 10 or so clips and couple hex screws.. pretty easy install. Running the vent lines was harder then installing the intake.

I made my own snorkel and cut a 3 inch hole. My UNI Prefilter is still ok at 4,000 miles and I expect to get at least 6,000 or more before I clean it. I added a under hood Uni prefilter on my Pioneer with 18,877 miles. The stock Pioneer filter is still like new. My Talon should be the same and need a new air filter at around 40,000 miles. Yes 40,000 miles or 10 years. The first 3 pictures are of my Pioneer 1000.

I just bought 3 the last 2 they had and they back ordered the third one. My buddy is installing the $140 snorkel kit so I will get some pictures of all the parts and the installation.

What tube did end up using for the connection?

I see yours is over in the painted area, did you not connect to the stock intake silencer and instead connect direct to the intake box?
I used the SYA Warrior Riser snorkel kit for the Honda Talon and just replaced the Riser with a filter 3 inch of your choice. Easy Peasy And you remove the stock set up

Good job on the Warrior Riser snorkel kit. Just getting it up will above the plastic will make the stock filter last a long time. Be careful in the rain. A couple of my buddies mounted the S&B particle separator up above the roof on their RZR's then added a rain cover. Take a small kids beach bucket to bungee over your filter if you get caught out in the rain. I like your setup.

Thanks I like your filter. Still would like to know if it required removal of the factory silencer tube and connected directly to the air box.

if he used the warrior setup, you remove the stock stuff outside the air box (i assume that is a silencer / intake ) the Kit has a piece that gets you from the air box to surface, then a double coupler hooks to it & the riser part (there is more stuff if you use the snorkel stuff). pretty clean setup. If you do like him (with foam filter), you may want to extend up a few more inches to get as far above dust as can.

The warrior setup only has a "OuterWare" type filter at opening as opposed to his filter
