I’ve been thinking about making a computer module that wires into the PCM and some after market accessories to make a display with speedometer, turn signal indicators all dash cluster features etc with a separate led screen to control accessories instead of using ancient rocker switches we live in a digital age and all these after market accessories I see seems like they’re going back to 2000s lol, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in any updates I’ve been studying the wiring diagram in my sxs and this just dawned on me the possibilities of doing this I mean most of all these switches and everything the cost adds up when we can use a cheap raspberry pi, 2 led screens and all I’d have to do is just start writing some code to control these things all I’d have to do is tap into the main wire harness and the possibilities with it are endless.

Sounds like an interesting endeavor.

First and foremost, you might want to start new thread and post your intro and a pic or two of your buggy. Folks often like that around these parts.

Welcome from Michigan.

Love to see what you come up with.

IMO - zero interest - it’s not expensive at all or even a lot of wiring - jeep stuff is 1/3 of the cost of sxs stuff and does the same job - this can be troubleshot with a basic meter.

And trust me - I spec./install/program modern CLX PLC equipment for heavy industrial equipment so I live in 2024 and the technology is amazing - biggest challenge is making it understandable for technicians to quickly troubleshoot - not good if you need the person who designed it to be the only one to fix it.

Just my opinion.

Realistically in a perfect environment their wouldn’t be much to diagnose, keep it as bare as possible. I mean you tap the harness or whatever it sends signals to pi and all it does is read them switches, they would just pretty much have names that’s all their would really need to have in a UI configuration and their functions, I mean it would have an option to read all input output values voltages etc. in your mind what would need to be diagnosed?

Hi - not trying to discourage you - you asked for an opinion - I gave it - right wrong or indifferent.

Auxbeam provides a similar but simpler version.

I live in an advanced world so I get it - but if I have a pinched wire, mouse decided to have lunch, etc. - I am a simpleton - a pin and a meter - I’ll figure it out. I have zero interest in hacking up my factory harness to make a turn signal work or a winch go in and out or whatever - but that’s just me.

There will be others on here that will be itching and jumping at the chance to have it all on a tablet.

Good luck with your endevour and ride often and safe!!!!
