P1000 Spare spark plugs?

Should I be carrying extra spark plugs for the (2018) P1000? My Honda ATV is very sensitive when it comes to spark plugs, but these must be a different type of plug based on the price - $18.92 ea. I carry a lot of tools, jack, jumper cables, etc., but no extra spark plugs. The plug # is NGK 31909-HL4-003 I believe I was reviewing my tool bags and noticed I had no extra plugs. I guess I should definitely add them to my tool bag.

No, I'm under 3,000, and yes I should have checked the Owner's Manual. However, like I said, my Honda 400 ATV just dies (I mean dead) when it decides it wants a plug. I do not have an odometer on it, and I'm simply not used to using the odometer for maintenance. Yes I should and will, but I still think I will order a spare set of plugs. Thanks for waking me up.

FYI, there is a very recent recall on certain 2017-2019 P700 and P1000 that have electric power steering. I need to take my machine in for the power steering recall, and I will have the engine and transmission oil in for an annual change. I could do the oil myself, but I'll have to have my machine in for the recall anyway.

Make sure you also use a magnetic spark plug socket ... they are deep down in there

Why would the 2018 have a different plug (different #) than my 2021?

It's the same plug. The manual refers to SILMAR7A9S as the plug number, the plug comes in a HONDA box marked with both numbers.

The plugs are the 100,000 mile plugs like the ones used in cars. At 19,000 miles on my Pioneer 1000 I put in new plugs because I had a set, the old ones were still like new. My 2011 RZR used the $3.00 plugs and those were ok at 5,000 miles when I changed them.

Mine fouled out at 60 miles. I Cary a spare set. Also takes a 9/16 or 14 mm spark plug socket.

I checked the plugs on my Pioneer 1000 at 1200 miles, as instructed by the owners manual the good news is the spark plug wrench supplied with the little Honda tool kit has a rubber grommet in it that holds the plug so you can pull it out of the deep well. I had to remove the attachment hardware for the air cleaner and the air hose on the bottom and move it one way to get one plug, then move it the other way to get the next plug. The manual instructs, do not clean the plugs. do not adjust the gap. and only use a wire type feeler gauge. The gap is 0.04", or 1.0 mm.
