What do you guys think? The 500 in the front followed by my log splitter then the 1000. Is the 1000 too far back? What would you do? Should I switch the two machines? Or, Should I just turn the 1000 around? But then that might blow out the windshield...? I have more to load but wanted to hold off until after I heard from all of you.

Simple easy cure to this Delima.

Put a trailer ball out on the TUNG of the trailer.

Splitter Tung - sticking out on - Trailer Tung.

This will secure the Front of Splitter to Front of Trailer - tie down the back of Splitter good to go.

Allows better positioning the weight of the 2 machines as needed -- most likley P500 in rear.

Used this method in the past for 2 ATV's & Splitter on a Trailer that was to short to Haul All 3.

This is my take on it.
If the distance from the center of the axles to the center of the p500 is 2x the distance to the center of the p1k your fine.
Looking at pictures is no was to judge, but it looks about right.

You have trailer brakes, right?

Should work fine, having the center of gravity of the 1000 just in back of the axles should balance out the weight of the 500. The tongue weight shouldn’t bother your HD truck.

Yes the trailer has brakes and I have a brake assist in my truck. I’ll have to play with it but am thinking of setting it around 3.5-4.5 ?

Electric brakes are a pain.
I have a hydraulic over electric on my Chevy but run the electric box on my Honda (minivan with a bed).
I usally push the gain up untill it's a pain at low speed - trailer is making the rig stop with a jerk.
Then I back it down just a little.
Set like this I usally try to brake early when comming to a stop and just apply light pressure on the pedal.
This let's the trailer do a lot of the stopping (my cargo trailer + load is close to 90% max rated tow weight for the Ridgeline).
If I really need the brakes the truck brakes add that extra stopping power and it pulls the speed down pretty good.
Your experiance may vary but you get the picture.

Take it out for a test drive. You can move the P1k back a little or add weight to the bed if needed.
Just make sure you have enough tounge weight, to little will cause sway. I personall like my trailers prety level with the load on it.( even load on front and rear trailer tires)
Get ya one of these and walk around and check bearing and tire temps. This is a quick and easy way to know if you may have a problem.

I like the look of that set up better. I have a 20’ aluminum car hauler. I cary a p1000-5 and a Tyrex 800. They weight about the same. I have to add weight to the tongue to stop a little bit of sway I get.

100acre, I would go down to your local over the road truck scales and find the gross weight of the trailer, then arrange and place the load so you have between 9 and 15 percent of the weight on the tongue, then mark the trailer if necessary to repeat that once you are done.
