This is the right answer. 👍 If you Google 'How to measure tongue weight', it will show how to measure TW with a bathroom scale even though yours will be higher than the 300 pound limit of most scales. Without that, I'd go by how far the truck squats when you add the trailer, not as accurate but it'll let you know you have at least some TW.100acre, I would go down to your local over the road truck scales and find the gross weight of the trailer, then arrange and place the load so you have between 9 and 15 percent of the weight on the tongue, then mark the trailer if necessary to repeat that once you are done.
If you have to add more TW, you can back the 500 on the trailer to get the engine further forward (assuming it's in the rear).
