Is It a good idea to use your winch along with the straps?
Dosen't the P5's have a E brake? I installed a Delton E brake and it trailers great with straps, no rocking.

depends on how you load it and the trailer. i i have pipe trailer and a warn 4000 . i just pull up to the bars hook my winch up to the cross bar on the tongue. pull ut down add straps tap off a littlet on winch then tight my back straps to frame as close as i can to the a arm angles and a little distance. dont use winch alone. i use pull straps instead of ratchet. but they are only for the bike

I strap at the a arms instead of the front bumper and rear cage. No suspension movement to loosen straps that way. Take notice where rollback wrecker drivers put their chains, same reasoning.
I have tied down both ways, but this is indeed the "proper" way for exactly the reason you mentioned. I think the Honda Owner's Manual instructs you to tie down on the "A" arms also, but their pictures are not very clear. I also think the manual says to have the transmission in 4WD lock with brakes on. I always check my tie downs after I drive 5 or 10 miles just to make sure everything remains secure, and frequently you can tighten things up a bit.

I load mine in turf mode, put it in PARK, use 4 rackets straps BELOW the suspension, not above on bumpers, pulled tight in opposite angles. Never had ANY problems

Most secure way of transporting your side by side. Rock solid & lockable on your trailer. My hunting partner Danny Weaver invented & patented the LA Guard Dog & Trailer Dog. If you’re interested, go to www.laguarddog.com

Great tips, I had a ratchet strap come loose and was dragged for about hour; I thought the honking was for what a great looking Honda

I just installed this setup on my trailer at all 4 wheels, lets the suspension move on rough roads & is super quick to load strap & go. I should have done it a long time ago.....Bb417aac49e29acc849ee9801e5585f7D973aee12282689c4c541d5fc96776eaA174406de935c8d377ef5f32421ed680Bd169199ad9496e1cf980c20199bfdc6

I do like the fixed blocks so you don't have to guess if the machine is too far forward or not. I have an aluminum trailer and sort of hate to drill the holes required, and so I've been using 4 ratchet straps attached on the frame near each tire. I also do not have a tail gate of any kind on my tilt trailer, and I would sleep better if I somehow blocked the machine in the event of a total failure of the tie downs. The trailer is really nice, a bit pricey, with hydraulics so you just drive on or off w/o a ramp (Aluma I think). Really quick and by far the best trailer I've ever owned - have 3.

It is sure worth the effort to think through how to secure the machine on the trailer.... still thinking. LOL
All the input is an education. Thanks

(BTW, I recently removed the doors on my P1000-3 which really helped a lot with the heat problem for the summer.)

No doubt that setup HOLDS very well, but it is not for me for several reasons.

My Pioneer can not always ride in the same position. Sometimes it is by itself, other times with ATV or other gear. Also I do not wish to waste time getting 4 wheels in the EXACT spot. I prefer not having to worry if it is an inch or two too far/short, or too right/left.

Fixing to see what this whole wheel bonnet talk is all about. Got the L track finished up and headed to Moab in a week! We shall see if the hype is all that.
