yup,i wanted a talon but needed a pioneer,so i upgraded the shocks and added some bucket seats.it plays as hard as it works.i was considering a sport sxs to add to the stable, but now i'd rather have another boat 🤣 🤣 🤣
You got any pics of those bucket seats?

As a follow up:

We had bucket seats before, which were nice, but this is why we like the Pioneer bench.
We have a chest harness that hooks around the bar behind the seat. It has enough lead that she can move around and lay her head down.

Pioneer 1000 @ 75 mph?
I'm running 29x9x14 front and 29x11x14 rear Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires on my 2018 P1K5LE no lift etc. My speedo says 66 mph hitting the limiter but GPS has me at 75 mph.

Top Speed 75 mph

Relative to the OP's topic, the FOX QS3 shocks that come on the LE models do perform much better than the standard P1K shocks, especially if you use light weight tires, such as the BH 2.0 unsprung weight makes a huge difference ride comfort and handling. I've ran several tires up to 48# Roctanes and keep going back to Bighorn 2.0 that weigh #32 front / #36 rear for great overall traction, handling, and ride comfort at 10-12 psi.

You bet. Used the same method as with MPG in your car.

I've honestly had my 2021 P1K5 up to 65 with a little Fred Flinstone leg assist.

Okay, only the 65 is true . . .

After thought: Held the steering wheel in a death grip and rocked back and forth violently.

After thought Dos: Mine's an LE, so I'm trucking an extra 80 pounds of skid plates.
I run 65 in my P1k5 all the time.

Ain’t happening with all the cab and windshield crap everyone runs.

I did a quick cursory search of Honda power sports web site. I could not find how much weight the PK5 is rated to carry. It says a 1000 pounds in the bed. So, if I had a PK-5, I don't, I have the PK3, I would be half that amount going to the mailbox. I figure, conservatively with wife, 2 bird dogs, and myself at 475#. In our case my PK3 has the factory roof, SATV fold out windows, custom seat covers, 4500# Viper winch w/synthetic and the plow mount. When shopping for a winch I looked for weights but was unsuccessful. (Yes I know, Google Fu is not one of my strong points.) The glove box is full of stuff, there is a cooler like console on the floor with GPS and assorted comfort items, a rear view mirror, and usually a bottle of water or two. It sure doesn't take long for the weight to add up. I might try to snesk it up to the dump and put it on the scale the next time I fill it up with gas.

i hit a little over 67mph with my tires maxed and my shocks set at 30 clicks and it wasn't a pleasant ride.

30" tires and Elkas Stage 4s are a fun combination on a Pioneer. I also have zero complaints about Superatv a-arms front and rear but make sure you pull all the bushings out and lubricate them before installing the arms.

Fox shocks are good and with replacement springs they'd likely be on par with Elkas but the progressive rate springs are too soft on top and too stiff on the bottom

Leaves 1669 pounds from the base model. Honda gives the same weight for all the pk5, base to SE. I was thinking 1500 for some reason but couldn't remember if it was from previous machines. Still it adds up fast on a, less face it, a 999cc engine that already weighs 1689 pounds, over 50%. The generic PK3 is 1568 pounds. I would have sworn I saw where the deluxe I bought was 1567 pounds.

It's the Marine Grunt in me. Watch your ounces and the pounds will take care of themselves. That my friends will determine performance, most especially at altitude. To each his own is what I think.

Very interesting topic by the way. Thanks to the OP and all subsequent posters.

I hear you. And the LE is 1,709 base because of the skid plates, under dash pockets, and longer decals. :p

I was close to there last year in September, Pitkin area. My buddy has an LE with the fox shocks and my machine "was" stock suspension then. He could go faster and had a much better ride. With that being said, I now have Elka stage 4's and what a difference. I'll know more in a month, going back early October. But for all the riding I do around where I live, huge difference. I no longer feel like I'm going to get tossed in the ditch on wash board roads. Here is a pic from last year.

The fox shocks with springs I updated to single rate on washboard are amazing, I don't even feel it and can easily go 30mph where a pickup is bouncing around at 5mph. I went to CO 3 times this year and had zero issues with driving over 30mph on unmaintained or lightly maintained forest service roads, some with extreme washboards.

I did remove my stock shocks when I had 1 mile on my machine so have zero clue how they are.

I have a 2021 Pioneer 1000-3 deluxe with stock shocks. How much better does it ride with the Fox shocks and is it worth the $
Thanks

Ok kids I'm back from Colorado. I'm no expert by any means, but I know that my machine is now more comfortable on the trails I ride. What a difference a year makes. Stock shocks gone, enter Elka stage 4. On Friday's ride, I went 130 miles over 5 passes, four of which were over 12,000ft Tomichi, Hancock, Tincup and Cumberland Passes. The scenery was fantastic and I am already looking forward to going again next year. Here's a pic from Thursday's ride.

What it seems to boil down to is that there are several good shock options out there, but if you want a real smooth ride, you're going to have to play with spring rates and how much clearance you want to maintain.

Nice to hear the upgrades worked out. Are all these trails in the same area? Would you have a link to more info? We are hoping to get a small group together and go out next year ourselves. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the Taylor Park Reservoir area.
We also did Cumberland, Hancock, and Tincup passes in one day. Amazing! Many other great trails in that area to conquer as well.
