I've been looking for a place to keep some tools in addition to the box of straps, snatch block and tire repair kit under hood. I ended up with a cheap metric Kobalt tool set as a start for tools to carry on the Pioneer. I didn't really like the blow molded case because of the wasted space so I modified it to fit most of the other tools I'd like to carry on board (pliers, screwdriver bits, wire cutters, small prybar, wrench set). Here's the tool set

The spot I was looking at is at the back of the under hood under the dash. I used a piece of 3/8" UHMW to create shelf to mount my tool kit.

I drilled out the 2 push pin holes in the frame below the red plastic and installed 2 6mm nutserts to mount the shelf. Here is the shelf installed. It turned out very rigid and fit the space pretty well.

Here's a trial fit of the tool kit on the plate.

I added a rubber strap mounted to 2 screw eye hooks, a closed loop hook in the rear and an open look hook in the front

Here's the tool kit shown with my strap, snatch block and tire repair kit box. The strap kit is retained with a bungy with a ball on the end which allows it to hook eye hook for the tool kit and the ball goes through the bottom of the body.

I know the strap box wont work for guys with dual batteries but the tool kit might.

Really cool! I like how it will be up out of the water so the tools shouldn't rust.

I agree it should be out of the water. I also added fender covers to limit more of the water splash up under the hood

I'm liking that. With some more work, you may slow down the water flow that comes around the pedals.

It would be very interested in doing that. I don't mind if it leaks a little bit but the waterfall that soaks my feet sucks.

I like heavy duty zip lock bags for about everything that your trying to keep dry or clean.
You need to buy plenty because you have to keep replacing them.
